Come on out to Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site for our first Junior Ranger Day on May 9, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During this time a park ranger and volunteer will explain the Texas State Park Junior Ranger Program and help lead you through some activities and short hikes in order to help guide you and your child in earning their new Junior Ranger badge.
This event will take place near the State Park Visitor Center at the parks amphitheater.
AUSTIN—It took forever to decide. Darkness descended upon the historic Onion Creek Golf Club, which made it about as easy to see on the 18th hole as it is to see inside the cup.
When all the hassle, all the talk, all the math was done, Llano had been proclaimed winner of the bronze medal in the state golf championships.
"It's a fantastic experience,"
There are some games you want to win more than others. One, I imagine, is the last contest played in your ball park. It certainly will get a lot of attention. The players might take their kids to the fancy venue on campus and tell them how they shut down the old place.
Llano High senior Tiger Maddox is about to become part of one of the most successful football teams in the country: Baylor. She won't be needed at linebacker, but she has been selected to be a cheerleader (Yell Leader) at BU—quite an accomplishment months before enrolling in Waco.
"I am beyond excited for this opportunity,"
CANYON LAKE HIGH—Not too bad when you exceed your personal record by three feet. Sort of like hitting three home runs in a game, or making three goals (a hat trick) in hockey or soccer.
Colton is our Center of Attention. The Llano High junior lofted the shot put 51 feet, eight-and-a-half inches to capture the gold medal in the Area Track & Field Meet, April 23.
CANYON LAKE HIGH—Grayson Freeman diagrammed a challenging route to Kingsville: Run three-and-a-quarter miles—the quarter came in the 4x400 relay—and do it quickly. He turned one of those miles into a championship at the Area Track & Field Meet, April 23. His next stop is near the King Ranch, May 1-2, for the Region IV Meet.

Through its Caliber Foundation, the collision repair company, will be donating six vehicles as part of their Recycled Rides program.
On Wednesday, May 6, Grace Episcopal Church will present a program "Testament of a Naked Man—Good News According to Mark". The power of the Gospel is brought to life in a dramatic one-man performance. The audience is transported back in time to be with Jesus on the dusty roads of Palestine and on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.

When 120 believers met to pray in an upper room in Jerusalem following the ascension of Christ, they had no way of knowing the impact they would have on future generations. As a result of that prayer meeting, the world would never be the same again.
The task of evangelizing assigned to these people of faith by their Lord must have seemed impossible to carry out.
I was rearranging some bookshelves to make room for a few new books when it happened. I was in for a surprise and did not quite know it. There behind some books on my bookshelf was an old family photo album I had not seen in years.
When I say old, I mean these were pictures taken when cameras were really cameras with film in them.
Continuing to examine the unique aspects of Llano County from PAST years and in PRESENT times brings the project alphabetically to the letters "V" through "Z."
"V" is for VINES. Llano County has always been home to native grape vines, mainly the Mustang Grape. Its fruit was a big part of the year-around diet of the early settlers, and almost every adult I knew when I was a kid also took advantage of the fruit's availability.
Inclusion on this list is not intended to be, and should not be, construed as an assessment of guilt or innocence.

Storms that rolled through the area on Sunday, April 26 and into the early morning hours on Monday, brought hail and tornadic winds to our neighbors north of Llano. Llano was spared the hail, however, high winds brought down several trees around town, including one that took a telephone pole and transformer with it.
City of Llano Public Works Director Eugene Long reported that at least three trees damaged power lines, including the one that fell knocking down a transformer on Berry Street.
Ron Cunningham - School Board Place 5
I graduated from Llano High School and the following year joined the U.S. Army where I served for three years. Following my military service I attended Angelo State University majoring in Psychology until being selected to the San Angelo Police Department. While with SAPD, I worked on Patrol, in Criminal Investigations and as a Motorcycle Officer.
After five years with SAPD, I applied and was accepted to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Rob Wilson - School Board Place 1
Why are you interested in serving on the school board?
The students of Llano ISD must be prepared to compete in the marketplace whether they leave to further their education or stay in Llano County to work. I have triplet daughters in kindergarten in Llano ISD who have 12 more years of school ahead of them.
