Kenzie Johnson, a junior at Llano High School, was recognized at a ceremony at the Headliner’s Club in Austin on June 11 for earning the highest award in Girl Scouting, the Girl Scout Gold Award.
Johnson’s project, Keeping Kids Clothed, was to create a clothes closet for school-aged children in need.
She collected and organized new and gently used clothes and set up a system for parents and teachers to request clothing for children.

Llano Chamber of Commerce board members John Roberie and Marylin Hale recently presented checks totaling $501 to Llano Meals on Wheels and non-perishable food items to the Llano Food Bank. Items were collected at the fifth annual Taste of Llano. The event was held the Friday before Memorial Day, and it is sponsored by the Llano Chamber of Commerce.

Independence Day, which shows the courage of the colonies of the United States to free themselves from the bondage of the English, and the courage to stand up to the most powerful army and navy in the world at that time. The signers of the Declaration of Independence knew they were signing away their lives when they signed the document, their lives, their families, their property, so these United States of America would be free from an oppressive regime.

On Thursday night, the Llano County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant at 529 CR 316. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of approximately 60 grams of methamphetamine.
Dianne Luce Brewer, a 51-year old white female who lives at the residence, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, which is a first degree felony.
Brewer was booked in the Llano County Jail.
Deep mud makes for a great kid’s race at Toyland each year, and didn’t seem to bother any of these kiddos.
Nominations are being sought for the Llano High School Hall of Fame.
The nomination committee will meet July 21 and nominations are due before that date, said committee chairman Donna Davis.
The first Llano High School Hall of Fame class was announced in 2002 and a hall of fame class has been announced yearly since then.

Vivian Darlene Bush passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 in Llano, Texas at the age of 74. She was born March 9, 1942 in Monmouth, Illinois to Maxine (Brown) and John Pierce. She married Jack Bush on June 8, 1973 in Rock Island, Illinois. Vivian was a housekeeper at Monmouth Hospital in Monmouth, Illinois and a resident of Llano, Texas for 10 years.
Alma Kathleen McCue led a full and wonderful life and died peacefully at home at age 93. She will be hugely missed by her daughters Kathleen McCue, Marjorie Masterson and Deborah Hussemann, her grandsons, David Seal and Tyler Hussemann, and by sons-in-law Dennis Masterson and Rick Hussemann.
