The greyhounds housed at the Pet Blood Bank in Cherokee are being transferred into adoption programs under a joint effort by the Texas Greyhound Association, the National Greyhound Association, the American Greyhound Council, the blood bank facility, and several regional adoption groups, including the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas.

Announcement made public 2 months after she turned herself in
In a Facebook post last Thursday, the Llano Police Department announced that an arrest warrant was issued for one of its officers over two months ago and she turned herself two days later.
The post said the department opened an investigation in May on former patrol sergeant Melissa (Lisa) Sloan. The post said Sloan distributed “confidential information to non-law enforcement personnel.”

Llano ISD had a high score in the FIRST rating, it was announced at the Oct. 23 board of trustees meeting.
Llano ISD scored 98 out of a possible 100 points in the FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas). The score is based on 15 indicators. The only indicator that the LISD scored poorly on was the debt service coverage ratio, but school officials said this was due to a lag in reporting and is based off the 2015-2016 school year.

The Llano Freshmen and Junior Varsity teams tangled with the Hondo Owls this past Thursday with both teams coming out victorious to up their District records to 2-1, respectively.
The Llano Freshmen traveled to Hondo and controlled the game from start to finish to defeat the Owls 19-6. The Junior Varsity hosted the Owls at Jacket Stadium and dominated the game on both sides of the ball as they recorded the 40-0 shutout.

The Llano Youth Football and Cheer season ended this past Saturday as the Llano third and fourth grade Junior Varsity team battled the undefeated Comfort Bobcats in the Hill Country Youth Football League Championship game in Blanco.
The Jackets entered the game with a fine 6-1 record and the chance to bring a gold ball back to Llano where the last time the Jackets had won the JV trophy was in 2014.
The Llano Jr. High Daubers battled the Hondo Owls in their third District game of the season.
Both 7th Grade teams won at Hondo, while the 8th Grade team fell in a close battle. The Daubers will now face the Bandera Bulldogs this next Thursday in their final district game of the season.
Gregory Henderson of Kingsland passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017. He was born August 28, 1955 to Ruby Joyce (Anthony) and Charles Henderson in Houston. Greg is survived by his two sisters Michelle Tuttle and husband Darren of Liberty Hill, Texas and Renee Cripes and husband Neil of Bertram, Texas.
Phyllis (Woods) Plummer died in Llano on Oct. 24, 2017. She was born on Dec. 11, 1925, in Quitaque, Texas, to Myrtle and Emin Woods.
The family moved to Liberty Hill in 1929, in a mule-drawn wagon.
Phyllis was a Llano resident and businesswoman for 70 years. She worked many years in Pinkie’s Grocery Store.

The Friends of the Llano Library Historic Cemetery Tour last week was a success. We appreciate all the performers for their magnificent jobs representing the six families. Also,we appreciate all the tour guides and helpers that set up the tour, led the tours, took care of the front desk and helped with the tear down after the tour.
