The Llano City Council on Monday looked at changes to the city's drought plan. After an almost hour-long discussion on potential changes to the city’s drought plan, the city council asked for additional changes before a vote on the measure. It is on the agenda for a special-called meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Celebrating independence in Llano begins at 10 a.m. today at the American Legion Hall with a “Walk Through History, 1754, 1776 and 1788.” The program will be presented by the Llano Tea Party with guest speakers, Texas Supreme Court Justice James D (Jimmy) Blacklock, Texas Third Court of Appeals judge Melissa Goodwin and retired Col.
The CTEC Operation Round-Up Board of Directors recently approved two grants, one for a local community organization as well as a family in need. A $500 grant was awarded to the Back to School Blast which is a nonprofit outreach program in Llano County that is designed to aid economically disadvantaged students by providing backpacks and school supplies as well as much needed items like shoes and socks.
The Llano Lions Club installed its 2018-2019 officers last Wednesday at Inman’s Kitchen. They are: President Leslie Tomlinson, First Vice President John Moyer, Second Vice President Carl Shannon, Third Vice President Barry Box, Secretary/Treasurer Luke Rogers, Lion Tamer/Tail Twister Rick Tiffin, Membership Billy Click, directors Fred Cook, Briley Mitchell and Gary Wells, and Past President Rob Wilson.

Anabel Kelley Burnes, age 68, of Kingsland, passed away at her home on June 28, 2018 in the early morning hours surrounded by her family. Anabel was born on March 3, 1950, in Austin. Anabel was raised in Austin by her mother Katherine Kelley and late father Leslie “Bart” Kelley. Anabel married the love of her life Ronal Burnes in 1969.
