The Llano County Commissioners Court met at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 6 to discuss and approve the resolution regarding the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Risk Analysis Branch Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) future map updates. FEMA sent three maps to the Court earlier this year to be considered. The main objection of the Commissioners Court is that these maps do not take the October 16, 2018 flood or the drift line surveys into consideration.
Dan Dalager, representative of Cox Paving, gave the City Council an update on the paving of the streets of Llano. He said they are about 60% finished with the paving. He explained that some people have expressed concern that it looks like some of the corners are not being paved and that there is a car that was paved around.

STONEWALL—Two rockets went up. One came down fine, while the other’s parachute did not open. Coffee beans made it back safely, but worms did not.
There’s your overview of what happened with Llano High’s launch of rockets, May 4, not too far from President Lyndon Johnson’s ranch. Reaching a height of more than 4,000 feet made it a success for both aircraft—about five feet in length.

A very nice showing in Game 2 of a doubleheader with Lampasas on the first night of May.
I know it’s the passing game, so why I am leading with a linebacker’s chores? Well, folks, to remind you, this sport is also a drill for the defense, and Logan Duggar, one of four veteran LBs, had one of the best nights in the history of the game.
WIMBERLEY—The Ducks earned their upset triumph over Llano High and won the bi-district playoff, two games to one.
The series, though, was bizarre. The following messages are not meant to be excuses—they are meant to explain some bizarre developments. “When you play a series like this,” Head Coach Todd Doucet said, “thousands of scenarios come down.”
We won’t go through that many.
HORSESHOE BAY—The man got two standing ovations before he got to the microphone. No surprise, really. College basketball’s Coach of the Year, Chris Beard, heading into his fourth season at Texas Tech, said, “I thought this team could win a national championship,” after the Red Raiders lost to Duke, 69-58, December 5, at Madison Square Garden.
Tech didn’t win, but it lost in overtime in the NCAA championship game to Virginia, 85-77.
Eric and Cheryl Kumerow are two of my heroes this week. Know why? They refused to be interviewed by Sports Illustrated for a story on Nick Bosa, a star defensive end from Ohio State, drafted second overall by the San Francisco 49ers.
It seems that Bosa had a great-grandfather who was a big Mafia guy in Chicago, Tony Accardo.
