The school song for Llano High School has been “L.H.S. Forever” since the school’s earliest days. The musical selection that accompanies it is called “The Director,” and its tune is the basis for hundreds of school songs throughout the United States. Some school songs are slow and pondering, but this one is quite lively and jovial, more akin to a fight song in many ways.
You know when you have had enough of something and you do not want to see any of it anymore. Well, that is what I think about summer. I’ve had enough of summer and I want to move on with my life.
It’s not that I dislike summer. I love summer.
When Louis “Louie” Zamperini carried the Olympic torch near the end of its Japanese journey in 1998, he was only a short distance from the place where he had suffered indescribable torture as a prisoner during World War Two. The winter Olympics stretched the participants to their limits during the days that followed his run but none of them were put to tests of endurance that even came close to what he had experienced nearly fifty years earlier.
When Louie’s story was told during the clos ...

The 14U Sting no longer sneaks up on teams as they have built the reputation in Select softball that they will “Bring it”!
In the last two tournaments, the Sting played in two championship games against some of the best Select teams in Texas. They traveled to San Antonio first to play against teams from San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding areas.

The Llano Jr. High 7th and 8th grade football teams have had a successful start to the season as they hosted Salado this last week. All four teams were in action against the Eagles as they prepare for their first District games against Wimberley this Thursday. Good luck to the Daubers!

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 14-to-18 year olds in the U.S. In fact, in 2013, there were 2,614 teen (15-to-19 year old) passenger vehicle drivers involved in fatal crashes, where an estimated 130,000 were injured. Yet, a recent survey shows that only 25 percent of parents have had a serious talk with their kids about the key components of driving.

The freshman record currently stands at 4-2 with victories over Brady, Sonora JV, San Angelo Lakeview and Salado. The JV record is currently also at 4-2 as they have defeated Brady, Bangs, San Angelo Lakeview and Salado.
To the Jackets’ credit, they absolutely never quit. Their resolve to rally was the reason they turned what would have been a bad setback into a 27-24, Homecoming victory over winless Salado.
But…did they ever escape. In another era, you could have walked by a couple of guards and swam out of Alcatraz easier.
Why the negativity?
Winning is more fun sometimes when so many setbacks precede the victory. That’s an observation of the Lady Jackets’ sweep of Lampasas on Homecoming Night. The triumph is Llano’s first in district play since 2013.
“So excited,” said junior Lexi Lucas. “Great feeling.”
“I was hoping for focus to be there,” stated head coach John Black, and, “I saw a focused team the whole game.”
