While I was talking with Mark Ament in the parking lot of the Tractor Supply Company store several folks drove up anxious to shop the store. “Can’t sell you anything,” Ament said, “we’re not set up for it. No cash registers, no money. We’ll open October 10.” That’s easy to remember.
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Llano Junior High and will be located in the LJH library on October 5-9. While the annual book fair promotes literacy and reading, proceeds from the book fair will be used to purchase library books and reading incentives and awards for the students and teachers at Llano Junior High. The book fair will be open each day from 7:30 A.M.
Kim Roberti, an accomplished artist, will be presenting a demonstration on figures in oil at the Llano Fine Arts Studio on October 5 at 10:00 a.m. The Studio is located at 503 Bessemer Avenue (just north of the Inks Bridge).  The public is invited to attend.  A potluck lunch will be served afterward.  The LFAG is a non-profit organization; therefore a $5.00 donation will cover the demo and potluck luncheon. Kim claims painting has become her life.
Llano High School counselors Nita Fields and Terrie Smarr are pleased with the opportunities that have been provided as part of the counseling department for students and parents to achieve success in 2015-16. We are off to a terrific start at Llano Elementary! Our campus has around 380 students who have settled in and are doing a great job! Students had the opportunity to visit their classroom and bring school supplies prior to the first day of school. Parents are invited to our Open House on October 6th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm.
The Llano County Historical Museum recently acquired several new items for display. Some of these items include glass negatives from the J.L. Lindsay Photography Studio along with several Llano High School Montaineer yearbooks dated from 1910 to 1912; a comprehensive history on Llano County sheriffs donated by Nila Bauman; pictures and articles from Gordon and Lugenia Donop; and Mountaineer yearbooks from the 40’s donated by Crandall Young. Llano Fine Art Guild and Gallery presents ARToberfest,  Saturday, October 3rd, at the Dabbs Railroad Hotel, from 5:30-9 pm.
