Yep, it's turn the clocks again. In the past, I've ranted and raved over the time changing. Actually, I see no need for changing the time. You'll have the same amount of sun at any rate. It's a toss up as to rather you drive in the dark to work or drive home after work in the dark.
Our annual Hunters' & Visitors' Guide is in this edition of the News. For me, this is the 16th time I've put together one of the supplements, and I hope you enjoy what we've done. Of course, if the Guide is in the paper, that can only mean one thing -- the general season begins on Saturday.
Every year a handful of Texas teenagers die suddenly due to sudden cardiac arrest that can be caused by a rhythm disorder or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The latter, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, is a rare congenital heart condition that causes part of the heart muscle to stiffen, trapping blood in the heart and producing an abnormal cardiac rhythm. To catch this potentially fatal condition, will host a SCORE screening on Mon., Nov.
Andrew Awalt is back by popular demand to host another Photography Workshop for the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country. This workshop is open to the Public. The hours will be 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, Nov. 14th, in the Stribling Room at the Mason County Library. Mr.
All veterans are invited to attend Mason High School's Veterans Day Assembly on Wednesday, November 11th at 9:25 a.m. This years program is titled "Faces of Freedom". Please bring your military artifacts to share with the students, you can display them in the commons area outside of the auditorium. Twenty six Riata members met at the Stribling Room on Oct 27. Hostesses were Laura Tallent and Julie Gamel. Laura Tallent introduced the guest speaker, Mary Alice Rodriquez who demonstrated the art of decorating cookies for special occasions. Members sampled her beautiful and delicious cookies. Susan Cole was welcomed as a new member.
Three former Punchers celebrate their victory with a thrilling 29-26 win over 3rd ranked Mary Hardin Baylor. In doing so they snapped a 61 game winning streak by the Cru. Korey Zavala came up huge for the Cowboys and was selected as ASC defensive player of the week and had 14 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and one amazing critical sack to secure a win for the Cowboys.

The Cowgirl and Puncher cross country teams competed at Texas A&M Corpus Christi this past Monday at the Region IV Cross Country Championships. The Cowgirl team composed of Ella Canfield, Angelica Ramirez, Shay Baker, Raegan Palacio, Kayla Guice, Ryli Ruffin, Kate Gillespie, and alternate Kayla Harwell placed 2nd behind San Saba falling six points short of the regional championship, beating Harper and Port Aransas to move on to the State Championships this coming weekend.

10/28/15 Sixteen golfers showed up to play in the last Scramble of this year's golf season. Divided up into 4 teams, the players began play under near perfect Indian Summer conditions. Once again, at the end of play, we had 2 teams report in with tie scores of 5 under par.

Roping A Deer- (Names have been removed to protect the Stupid) I had this idea that I was going to rope a deer, put it in a stall, feed it up on corn for a couple of weeks, then kill it and eat it. The first step in this adventure was getting a deer.
What a great weekend. We had a bunch of trick-or-treaters Saturday night. It is always fun to see the little kiddos dressed in their costumes. Our daughter-in-law, Crystal, spent Saturday night with us. We always enjoy her visits. And, most importantly, I loved my extra hour of sleep recovered from months ago when it was stolen from me. The Art United Methodist Church will have another guest speaker, District Superintendent Steve Purdy, on Sunday.

The Mason County Commissioners' Court met in a special session on Thursday, October 29th. With only a few items on the agenda, they quickly set to work on tackling the business at hand. The first item was discussion of the burn ban in effect in Mason County. The Court acknowledged that, even though beneficial rains have fallen around the area, there is still a great deal of dry fuel in the pastures.

Mason ISD is proud that we will be able to offer our traditional Thanksgiving lunch this year. Due to production problems in the turkey industry, many school districts will not be able to have a traditional Thanksgiving lunch. We are one of 10 schools in TEXAS that has been able to secure diced turkey and gravy for our Thanksgiving lunch!
Mark Hierholzer will be presenting a concert of free improvisation on the piano at Hill Country Evangelical Free Church, 107 East Lower Crabapple in Fredericksburg at 3 PM on Sunday, November 8. Hierholzer is director of the Fredericksburg Chorale and the German Choirs. He performs his compositions and improvisations regularly in Fredericksburg and surrounding areas.
The filing period for the March 1, 2016 Republican Primary is approaching. It is important to note that the filing period is shorter this year. Filing begins Saturday November 14, 2015 and runs through Monday December 14, 2015. Candidates who are interested in running for an office in Mason County must be a Texas resident for one year for most offices, lived in Mason County or precinct for 6 months, must be a United States citizen, and a registered voter.

Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Hill, age 62, of Huron Park, Ontario, Canada and formerly of Brady, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, in Exeter, Ontario, Canada. She was born October 17, 1953 in San Angelo, Texas to Manford Underwood and Betty Jean (Capps) Underwood. She graduated from Desoto High School in 1972.
Laura Lee Henderson-George passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the age of 57. Laura Lee is survived by her husband, Bill George of Castell, TX; Her mother, Carolyn Nelson of San Antonio, TX; Her father and step-mother, Mr. William and Dr. Edna Henderson of Denver, Colorado; Her sons, Christopher Conrad of Uvalde, TX and Brad Henderson of San Antonio, TX; and her brother, Keller Henderson of San Antonio, TX.
Ruby Lenora Behrens, 89, of Austin, passed away October 29, 2015. She was born to Francis L. Paisley and Daisy Mae (Kibler) Paisley on February 7, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Behrens grew up as a Church of Christ minister's daughter. The family moved frequently in her formative years contributing to the family's ministry.
Editor: I am writing this letter to let the voters of Precinct 3, Mason County, know that I will not be running for re-election for Commissioner of Precinct 3 next year.
