“Boss” Lion Jim Heidelberg called to order the weekly meeting of the Mason Lions Club on June 5. Thirty-two Lions Club members were present at the meeting along with five guests.
Separate meetings of the club’s Board of Directors and the directors of the Mason Lions Club Charitable Foundation preceded the weekly meeting.

Chainey Weitz, a 7th grade student at Mason Junior High School has earned a position on the Texas state/provincial National Junior High Rodeo Team and will be traveling with fellow teammates to Huron, South Dakota, June 24th thru June 30th to compete at the14th Annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) in the Girls Breakaway Roping competition.

This year there are two gifts. One is a ‘make it a better place’ where painted rocks have been placed. The children would like anyone traveling to and from the Post Office to stop and pick up a rock for their enjoyment.
Mason County Ag and Natural Resources agent, Micah Walker, has announced a date for steer and heifer validation for 4H and/or FFA members.
Validation must be completed for any steer or heifer that will be entered in a local, area, state or national show.
Validation will be held on Wednesday, June 20 from 8 am to 11 am at the Jordan Cattle Auction in Mason.
On Saturday, June the 16th, the Mason Puncher Club is having their annual Puncher Club Golf tournament. This tournament is an ADULTS ONLY event.
It will be an 18 hole, 4 person scramble; and, a length of string for additional help.
Come sign up early - tee off will be at 1:30 (signup no later than noon, Saturday).

BRADY — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a private applicator training June 20 at the agency’s McCulloch County office, 114 W. Main St. in Brady.
Registration is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. with the training to follow at 8 a.m. Cost is $40 per person. Light snacks will be provided.

What a wonderful week. I sit here counting my blessings. First, hubby John finally came home after a hospital stay and rehab stay. It has been 19 long days of running. He is feeling so much better and the doctors think they have found the reason for this last episode.

Shaedyn Joelle Warzecha passed away peacefully in her parent’s arms while surrounded by family and friends on May 23, 2018, just one month before her second birthday.
She came into this world June 22, 2016, loud and in charge. She was a very happy and smart child who lit up every room she entered.
Richard I. Lane, OD, age 75, of Brady, Texas, went peacefully in his sleep to be with his Jesus on Monday, June 4, 2018, in Brady.
Richard was born September 3, 1942, in Norman, Texas, to Idus and Alma (Reese) Lane and grew up in Comanche County. He was a 1960 graduate of Comanche High School.
Marvin Calvin Martin, age 62, of Brady, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018, in Brady.
Calvin was born June 11, 1955, in Santa Cruz, California. He was a carpenter by trade and worked in construction, building homes. He has lived in Brady for 31 years. He was a Christian. He enjoyed drawing and tending to his house plants.
Alma was born October 2,1921, in Rockwood, Texas, to Alva Noble and Ella Jane Grimm McSwane.
Alma married Roy Albert Williams on August 2, 1940, in Rockwood, TX. They lived in several communities including Coleman, Texas, before moving to Barstow, Texas where Alma was a clerk with the Barstow post office for many years, they moved to Andrews in 1972.
I Don't Think Last Week Counts As a Vacation!
As soon as the Rio Texas Annual Conference ended last week, I walked out of the American Bank Center, got in my pickup, and I drove four hours, non-stop, to get back home. In total, I was gone for just under 80 hours.
Just a reminder that we won’t have Read with a Dog next Monday, June 18th. However, all the other fun things are going on, including Wild Things Zoofari today at 1:00 p.m. The kids will learn about the live animals that Wild Things Zoofari brings—admission is FREE!

When I turned six years old my parents gave me a tent. I’d been asking for a tent for months, so I was pretty stoked. It was a pup tent, similar to what U.S. soldiers used during World War II. Basically an A-frame with open ends and no floor.

I want it clearly understood up front. My wife and I would invite my Uncle Mort and Aunt Maude to church again if they ever visit on a Sunday. We both wish--as does Maude—that Mort’s“monetary-itis” dominating his adult life would loosen its grip on the Lord’s Day.
He may--or may not--remember what the preacher said, but his antenna went straight up when he overheard four ladies discussing their upcoming 65th wedding anniversaries.
