Meals
I have delivered Meals on Wheels for several years and I feel it is one of the best things I do to help those people in need. I understand this Mason program needs some help.
Starting this month, when I pay my city bill my wife, Carol Jean, and I are going to include a $100.00 check to keep this program going.
Recycle
The last time I dropped on my recycles I received the sad news that our Mason Recycle Center can no longer accept the miscellaneous plastics that they have been receiving from residents for over 20 years.
Thank you, Mason, for being a leader in recycling and for recycling more per capita than big cities like Austin for many years.
After reading the article in the paper last week, I stopped recycling plastic containers and bags listed.
Today is always an emotional day. Just as the generations before me will never forget December 7, 1941, my generation and those that follow will never forget September 11, 2001.
This year's marking of that day falls, just as it did 17 years ago, on a Tuesday. It was a day when Americans realized that the world had changed and that we were vulnerable.

This recipe is right in my wheelhouse: fast, easy, inexpensive to put together, and a real crowd pleaser! You can toss this goodie together in less than an hour, and I'm thinking it will take a lot less than an hour have it disappear from your table.
Ingredients:
1 eight ounce tube crescent rolls
12 oz.
There’s pretty much nothing more important in Texas than water. Any way that we can conserve our water or find ways to survive another drought is well worth knowing, in my book. So Pete Van Dyck’s program “Drought Proof Texas” tomorrow evening is one to attend. He’ll begin at 6:00 p.m.
Cracked up
My friends at peta have come through for me once again. I hadn’t heard from them in a while, so I was beginning to wonder if they’d gone over to the Meat Side. But during the past few weeks I’ve received emails from several readers letting me know the animal rights organization is every bit as petty, irrelevant, and ignorant as ever.
Giants Who Wouldn’t Pull Rank…

Senator John McCain’s recent death resulted in much reflection on his life of service to his country, including his imprisonment in Viet Nam for more than five years.

Make yours a good week.
It’s a bird.
It’s a plane.
It’s confetti with wings.
No.
It’s little butterflies.
Or moths.
Hundreds of them.
Aloft in the wind.
Like ashes blowing hither and yon.
Never alighting.
Perpetually flying.
And flitting.
And fast, too.
Moths, as compared to butterflies, are generally smaller.
And less brightly colored.
Thus spake Trusty Webster.
But moths are chiefly night flyers.
So there goes that.
Must be butterflies.
Small, drab day trippers.
