With the rain that fell last weekend and the wonderful weather we are having this week, the wildflowers and green tree leaves are even more spring-like this week. The visitors to Mason are thrilled with the fields and roadsides full of wildflowers, and I hope that each of you have taken some time to drive around the County and see how beautifully the Master Artist has colored our landscape.

In this week's edition, there is an article from the Puncher Band Boosters. They are encouraging supporters to join the organization, as their numbers have dwindled in recent years, and only a handful of parents and supporters are now carrying on the many tasks of the group, including organizing the annual Queen's Coronation. One of the things that the Band Boosters have done as a fundraiser for years is the Community Birthday Calendar.
Although Mason suffers from a lack of current economic activity and employment opportunity, this deficit is largely made up for by the quality of life it provides. ‘Quality of Life’ is a term that describes the standard of a community or person’s health, comfort, and happiness in their daily life experience.
Organically Mason Dear people of Mason, On March 31st I was in Mason for John Henry Hofmann’s memorial service. This was not my first trip to Mason. Beginning in 1988 my now deceased husband, Glenn George Capps, and I went to Mason numerous times. In 2006 we were married in Mason. Then in 2017 my mother-in-law, Ann, and I held a memorial service for my darling George in Mason.
Sausage Breakfast Muffins courtesy: Pintrest This is not exactly in line with a “baker’s” series of recipes, but it is so easy, so delicious and since it does require baking in the oven, I thought you might find a good use for it. It makes quite a few, and they do well if you freeze them after you’ve baked them (and if there are any left over to freeze!). Ingredients: 1 lb.
Well, the book sale is over, we’ve vicariously trekked the Appalachian Trail, and now we can refocus our energies on our Camp Discovery play area. The fencing is progressing, and we’re moving towards the completion stage of the infrastructure. We’d like to have a small checkerboard table and a planter on legs that kids can plan, so if you’re a woodworker or carpenter and looking for a project, give me a call at 347-5446!
Dancing men with wolves In case you haven’t caught up on the latest news during the last fifty years or so, climate change is the greatest threat mankind faces, or has ever faced, or will ever face, outside of a Miley Virus music video. Anthropogenic (human-caused) climate change is why it’s getting hotter in the summer (or colder), colder in the winter (or hotter), drier in the spring (or wetter), and causes poor coffee production.
Telling Headlines… It was bound to happen, and finally, it did. I overheard the words “artificial intelligence” and “fake news” mentioned in the same sentence. Maybe we need more “real thing” topics. Coca-Cola sold gazillions of its products with its “real thing” claim years ago. During our youth, we placed great trust in mass media news, and were wary of products deemed to be “artificial,” far removed from the “real thing.”… ***** Many playground argumen ...

Easter. Sunday. Always. Always Sunday. Resurrection. Salvation. End of Lent. Forty days of fasting. And period of reflection. Christ crucified Friday. Risen from the dead Sunday. Christians started celebrating Easter with a feast around 33 A.D. Flowers are also a big part of Easter. Symbolizing rebirth. Lilies, daffodils. Red tulips. For Christ’s blood. Easter. From “Eostre.” The pagan Germanic goddess of fertility. Which also explains the traditi ...
