The days are hot, but the Community Thrift Store is cool and the merchandise is always a bargain. We continue to receive loads of donations on the first couple of days each week, and while we continue to require masks while shopping in the Store we are open and seeing many of our favorite customers.

In these crazy times of COVID-19, we all strive to continue our lives as “normal” as possible. In the Hill Country, the fall is often a time of festivals, celebrations, and fund raisers. At St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Saba, Texas, we, like many others, are getting creative when looking at traditional festivals and celebrations.
In an effort to continue our annual Festival, while being safe and practicing social distancing, we are moving our event to Risien Park in San Saba.

And then, this week showed me that we don't always get to experience such pain just once in our lives.
Just in time for the start of high school football season, sports aficionados soon will be seeing a new sports editor for the Mason County News around the fields.
Andrew Salmi, who is from Southern California, recently made the big move from Oklahoma, where he covered sports for several newspapers.
He might be new to Llano, but he’s no greenhorn when it comes to sports.
“My family and pretty much any of my friends would tell you that I live and breathe sports,” Salmi said.
