The Mason Jr. High Robotics has qualified six teams to compete in Area 15 Competition. There are three teams competing in the arena event. This requires students to have a 30-second programmed robot that will complete tasks set ahead of competition time. The teams will have to work with other teams to achieve the maximum score.

Mason High School girls varsity cross country had two standout runners recently recognized. Junior Kinsley Jordan and sophomore Kamryn Loeffler were selected as Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state selections for the 2021 season.
The duo of Jordan and Loeffler had superb seasons for Cowgirls cross country, which should shine again in 2022 as all of the girls on the team were underclassmen.

The Mason High School girls and boys varsity basketball teams were both in action this past week as both the Cowgirls and Punchers played a handful of games.
To start off the week, the Cowgirls traveled on Dec. 7 and were able to pull off an impressive 47-36 road victory against a very good Ballinger High School team.
Growing the Three Sisters Garden.
Who are the three sisters? For many Native American communities, three seeds: corn, beans, and squash represent the most important crops. They complement each other in the garden as well as nutritionally. How do the three work together? Corn provides the tall stalks for the beans to climb; beans provide nitrogen to fertilize the soil while stabilizing the tall corn during heavy winds; and large squash leaves shade out weeds and help retain soil moisture.
We really enjoy Italian food and prepare it in some form or another at least three times a month. Italian food cries out for a bread to accompany it, so, over the years, I've accumulated quite a few recipes for Italian bread. Some of it is a bit “fussy” to prepare, but this recipe is right in the Practical Baker's wheelhouse: simple, just a few ingredients, and ready to put on the table in about an hour.

Back in my “talent” days I was on a photo shoot for Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. Portraying a grandfather recovering from a heart attack, my visiting “grandson” and I were to carry on an ad-lib conversation while the photographer went about his business.

It is close to Christmas. My Christmas present to me this year is to get my dining room back to normal. I made a bedroom out of the dining room almost two years ago but now granddaughter and great grandson are on their own. So, I get my dining room back.
Americans everywhere should be pleased about the great news from last week, when Jussie Smollett’s attacker was finally brought to justice. Unfortunately for Jussie, he can now honestly quote from the Pogo comic strip, ‘We have met the enemy and he is us.’
Jussie wasted an awful lot of taxpayer money when he sent Chicago police on a wild noose chase to look for criminals that didn’t exist, but I’m not going to beat him up about it.
