Merry Christmas, God Bless Us Everyone! Christmas eve, and Christmas day, fall on a Saturday and Sunday this year. While it seems wholly appropriate that Christmas day should occur on a Sunday, the timing has played havoc with schedules for the end of this week and the beginning of next week. By consensus, the folks at the News office decided that we would be closed on Friday, giving everyone a three-day weekend.
The team earned its ninth overall title and sixth crown in the last decade. The national championship of livestock judging is staying in Lubbock.    Christmas is a time for family, fellowship and celebrating the love of Christ. Mary Catherine “Kay” Butler Reichenau Poynor died Saturday, December 17 at her home on the hill near Honey Creek at the age of 90 years. She was born June 14, 1926, in Crystal City, Texas, to Richard and Georgia Butler. She grew up there and graduated from Crystal City High School in May 1945.
Colina Kay Miller, of Fredonia, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, at the age of 37. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Tom Miller, her mother Sharron Kay Robison, her children Mallisa Kay Crocker, Jancie Ray Miller, Taylee Joe Miller, Latham Coal Miller II and step daughter Jala Miller all of Fredonia and her brother Bo Robison and wife Janara of Port Arthur.

   Over the course of three days of UIL Academic competition in Mason (December 2,7) and Center Point on December 8, 2016, Mason Junior High students amassed many individual and team medals. After all points were totalled, San Saba place first, Mason second and Junction third.
