   KERRVILLE, TX - Andrew LaBay will be the Texas Master Naturalist Hill Country Chapter’s speaker at the Monday, September 26th monthly meeting. Andrew is a Program Specialist based at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Viticulture and Fruit Lab in Fredericksburg, Texas. His work is focused on developing educational programs and providing technical support for grape growers in the Texas Hill Country.
   Congratulations to Cameron Urteaga - Mason Square Museum’s 30,000th visitor! He is shown in the accompanying photograph with Yolanda Flores, Dennis Evans, and Cameron’s dad, Sammy.    Docent Andy Delcuze had been keeping an eye on the visitor count and called Dennis and Kay Evans to report that the countdown was very close on Saturday, September 3rd.
   Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” like most of us, have our “little routines,” familiar habits that give order to our days, and, sometimes, insanity to our significant others (sorry, Tommy).    We have been putting our pantyhose on left leg first for 50 years and we see no reason to change it up.
   San Saba, TX is excited to announce the Entertainment Lineup for the 2016 San Saba Pecan Jam Festival.    The Puncher Club is hosting complimentary weekly Varsity game film screenings every Tuesday at 6:30 PM during the football season at the Odeon. Screenings are approximately 45 minutes in length and provide a fantastic opportunity to relive spectacular plays or perhaps catch a game that you were not able to attend!
   The annual meeting of the Central Texas Private Property Rights Coalition will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds Biergarten.    Registration, for the collection of annual dues, and social, will begin at 6:00 PM. A catered meal will be served at 6:30 PM, followed by a business meeting.
   Vendor applications for Old Yeller Day are now available at the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library located at 410 Post Hill Street and the Chamber of Commerce on the square. Local vendors only may apply. Old Yeller Day takes place on Saturday, September 24th, on the Courthouse lawn.
   Old Yeller Day, held this year on September 24th, is a long-time Mason County tradition that celebrates all things Mason from the time period that Old Yeller was written by Fred Gipson. Since most of his books had to do with dogs, it follows that an important part of Old Yeller Day is the Pet Parade and contests.    Again this year, Rich Zanetti of Nutro Pet Foods, partnering with Reigning Cats & Dogs, has generously donated free dog food for a year as the grand prize ...
   The Old Yeller Days celebration to be held Saturday, September 24th, from 10:00-1:00 on the Mason County Courthouse lawn, will bring to life the frontier times of Mason County and its literary heritage of Mason author Fred Gipson.    Sponsored by the Mason County M.    Mary Jane Smith    Mary Jane (Bauer) Smith passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016, in Llano, Texas at the age of 83. Mary Jane was born on April 25, 1933, in Llano County to Walter and Mary E. (Morton) Bauer. She grew up in Castell, Texas and graduated at the early age of 16 from Llano High School.    Mary Jane married Willie M.
