Jim Johnson    Jim H. Johnson of Hutto,TX (77) was born July 21, 1939, in Lubbock, TX. He passed on to heaven August 5, 2016.    Services were held in the chapel of Beck Funeral Home in Pflugerville on Monday, August 8 at 10:00 am. Burial followed in the Hutto Lutheran Cemetery.    Pallbearers: Jarrod Purvis, Jim Jordan, Chad Foster, Jim Jansen, Richard Sweeney and Rob Bocanegra.    Jim is survived by his wife/soulmate Kay Johnson.
Iris Moore    Iris Richardson Moore, age 93 of Mason, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 11 in Concho Health and Rehab in Eden, Texas.    Iris was the 7th of 8 children. She was born on May 7, 1923, to Hiram and Ada Richardson. She was married to J. C. Moore for 47 years.
   Old Yeller Day will be on Saturday, September 24th this year and will run from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Local vendors may pick up their applications at the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library located at 410 Post Hill St. or at the Mason Chamber of Commerce.
   The Hilda Community Club will hold its annual Ice Cream Social this coming Friday, August 19th at 6:30 p.m. and the everyone is invited.    Members, please bring a gallon of your favorite ice cream (home-made or store-bought) to share. Hosts Carol Kothmann and Jan Appleby will provide toppings for the ice cream and drinks.
   Everyone is invited to attend the Fundraiser!    Mason ISD announced its policy today for providing free and reduced-price meals for children served under the included current income eligibility guidelines.    The “Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER)” was revised and updated and will be effective October 11, 2015. A major change in the revision now requires all food employees to complete an accredited food handlers training program within 60 days of employment, effective September 16, 2016.    A food handler’s course accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services is being offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Mason County.
   The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, August 9th, for its weekly luncheon meeting. There were 31 members and 2 visitors in attendance.    “Boss” Lion Jess Irwin read a thank you card from the Texas Lions Camp for children with disabilities for our support.
