On March 19th, the Mason County Republican Convention was held at the library. Delegates for the upcoming state convention were nominated and voted upon. Elected to represent Mason County as delegates are: Robert McDonald, Vicki Enrique, Susan Lannoy and Will McCann. Alternates are: Bruce Lehmberg, Kendrah McDonald, Oscar Durham and Jan McCann.
The 2016 Texas Republican Convention will be held in Dallas on May 12th through May 15th.

The Mason High School UIL Academics Team won the 2A Region IV Championship on Saturday, April 23rd, in Corpus Christi. The achievement marks the first time in MHS history that the Academic team has won the whole regional tournament. In addition, by placing among the top three competitors in their events, 12 students advanced to compete in the UIL State Tournament that will be held in late May.

Walter M. Tuckness
Walter Milton Tuckness of Junction, TX, who passed from this life on Friday, April 22, 2016, was born in Mason, TX, on February 8, 1935, to Robert Lee and Myrle (Ward) Tuckness.
Milton graduated from Junction High School in 1955, joining the U. S. Army before finishing school. He spent the remainder of his military service in Germany.
While working in Ozona after discharge, he met and married Juanita Oathout and her son David, whom he later adopted.

On Monday, April 25, 2016, Michael Patrick Shanley peacefully “slipped the bonds of earth” at his home here in Mason, in the company of his beloved wife, Gail, family members and friends.
Mike was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 27, 1947, and lived on Long Island until he joined the Army in October 1966.

Larry Ernest Henderson, age 71, of Voca, Texas, passed away Friday evening, April 22, 2016, in Brady, Texas.
He was born August 13, 1944, in Brady, Texas, to Ernest Oliver Henderson & Leah Violet (Passmore) Henderson.
Larry married Shirley Lindsey on May 26, 1977, in Brady. He worked for Oglebay Norton Industrial Sands for 30 years, retiring in 2001 as Regional Manager.
