Mason High School’s annual induction ceremony for the National Honor Society will be Tuesday, May 3rd at 5:30 in the evening in the Mason High School Auditorium and the public is invited to attend.
To be eligible for membership consideration, students must have a cumulative grade average of 93. Additionally, potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service, and character.

All Hill Country residents and visitors are invited to come and see our “Nature on Display” this weekend at the sixth annual Wings Over the Hills Nature Festival in Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in Fredericksburg. This naturally wonderful weekend will offer all members of the family an opportunity to learn about our flying critters, but also about wildflowers, snakes, and mammals that we sometimes take for granted.
On April 1st, Mason High School reached a milestone point in its development of a grape growing curriculum for students interested in this rapidly expanding Texas industry.

With the district tournament finishing on Wednesday and the regional tournament starting a week later, it was a hectic time for the Mason Tennis Team. However, it was time well spent as thirteen of the sixteen regional qualifiers advanced to the state meet to be played May 16-17 in College Station.
Mason totally dominated at the district tournament as they won first and second in every division but one at both JV and varsity levels.
In spite of a rather “iffy” golf weather forecast early in the day, by afternoon the sun was shining brightly and 27 golfers ventured out to take advantage of ideal conditions.

During their meeting on Monday night, the Mason I.S.D. School Board took action to finish their search for a new superintendent to replace Pam Kruse who is retiring at the end of the school year.
The board has named John Schumacher as the lone finalist for the superintendent position of MISD.
The Mason Square Museum is honored to have a variety of guns on display, from rifles to shotguns to pistols. One such gun is a dual valve shotgun brought to Mason from Germany in or about 1854 by Robert Zesch. This remarkable shotgun is on loan by Jordan and Blan Zesch.
The summary of the gun says that in Mason County’s early days, women and children were often left alone on isolated farms while the men were traveling or working away from home.
More than 1000 retired educational employees met in Houston for the 63rd Annual Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) Convention at the Houston Galleria. Attendees from all over Texas participated in this year’s convention April 10-12, including Sarah Harrison, Ann Lemon, Judi Simon, and Sherry Hubbard from the Menard/Kimble/Mason RTA. Public education retirees discussed the future of their health care and pension, among other issues.
