The members of American Legion Fort Mason Post #285 & Ladies Auxiliary invite other veterans, friends and family, and the general public to join us on Thursday, March 10th, at the American Legion Post Hall, 237 Post Hill St., to celebrate The American Legion’s founding by members of the American Expeditionary Forces at its Paris Caucus in March, 1919.

Make your plans to visit Mason the first weekend of April as we will once again have local artists and musicians lining the Historic Mason Square. On Saturday, April 2nd from 11-4 artists of all kinds will be displaying their paintings, photography, dichroic beaded jewelry, pearls, puppets, handmade batik silks, fiber art, woodworking and more. Mason elementary and junior high school students will have artwork on display on behalf of their wonderful art teacher Deborah Horvath.

In last week’s column I talked about the City’s concerns about local law enforcement and the direction we are considering in reestablishing a City Police Department to address some of the issues. At next Monday’s City Commission meeting that is the significant issue that will be discussed, and action should be taken on an Ordinance authorizing the formation of a Police Department.
