Mildred Evelyn Eckert Carder, 94, died peacefully in her sleep on November 25, 2015, at Patriots Colony in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Born July 31, 1921, in Mason, Texas, she is predeceased by her parents, Kinney Milton and Zilla Minnie (Wood) Eckert of Mason, Texas, and her husband, John Thomas Carder of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Survivors include her two sons, Patrick Carder (Sandra) of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Kinney Carder (Virginia) of Leesburg, Georgia.
53 boys enjoyed hunting with Operation Orphans, Inc. December 5th and harvested 70 animals. Animals taken during the hunt were 49 whitetail does, 5 spikes, 11 bucks, 3 feral hogs, 1 axis and 1 sika. KERRVILLE, Texas (December 9, 2015) - Amanda Ruiz of Mason graduated from Schreiner University in Kerrville and will be recognized at the December Commencement Services. Ms. Ruiz received a degree in Vocational Nursing.

Christmas is coming soon. The older I get, the less prepared I seem to be. I have grand plans to decorate, bake, visit friends, and send clever notes in beautiful cards. However, reality is quite different. I will never be as organized as my mother. She had her cookies baked shortly after the first of December.
I cannot believe that the year is almost over! It has been such a successful and productive year at the Mason County Chamber of Commerce. Many improvements and accomplishments were made in 2015. Our new website was launched, we had a significant increase in membership and through good planning and budgeting we were able to increase advertising which in turn brought visitors to town that shopped, ate in our restaurants and slept in our beds.
The Wild Game Dinner was a huge success!
The past few weeks have been very busy around the City, and the coming weeks will surely continue this level of activity. The lights are all on around the Square every night, as well as some of the buildings just off of the Square, and the light tree is up in Heritage Park and with the various windows and buildings being decorated it is certainly "beginning to look a lot like Christmas."
