Our beloved Nathan “Nate” John Sattler, age 35, resident of Austin, Texas, was called to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Thomas Allan Knox II passed away on Monday, August 7, at the age of 83. Thomas was born in Waco, Texas on January 30, 1934, to Thomas Allan Knox Sr. and Juanita Smith Knox. He was raised in Mason and was a 1950 graduate of Mason High School. On April 6, 1955, Thomas married Doris Jane Capps Knox at the Capps Ranch in Mason County and they were together for 56 years until her passing in 2011. Jessica Ann Valenzuela, age 32, of Seguin, Texas and formerly of Mason, died Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Seguin. Jessica was born June 21, 1985, in Brady, Texas, to Jose Levrie and Marie Anna Gonzales. She grew up in Mason and moved to Seguin in 2000, where she graduated from high school.
Mr. Dayton Kuhlmann of Fredericksburg passed away on Saturday July 29th at the age of 89 years. Dayton was born December 7, 1927 in Mason County to Alfred and Rosa Jacoby Kuhlmann. Dayton married Mary Jenschke on December 29, 1949 in Fredericksburg. Jimmie Lange, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, at the age of 70. Mr. Lange is survived by his wife Edith Lange, of Mason, two daughters Jennifer Bond and husband Toby of San Antonio and Ericha Lange of San Antonio and a sister Lois Crenwelge and husband Cecil of Doss. A memorial service celebrating his life was held on Sunday, August 6, at 3:00 p.m.
Colton Allen Tatsch of Harper Texas died unexpectedly on Monday July 24, 2017 at the young age of 13. Colton Allen was born on July 6, 2004 and in this short time had an amazing impact on so many people. The lives of his family and friends and all that he knew are better for having known him as he changed us all forever.
Carole Ann Wickizer was born on May 24, 1927, in Spokane, Washington, and passed away peacefully on July 23, 2017. She was a long time resident of the Southern Oregon Coast, but moved to Mason in 1993. She is survived by her daughters Pamela Rauen, Penny Barker, her 4 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She loved community theatre, the ocean, nutrition, great literature, music, and animals, especially dogs.
Lee Elton (Bill) Brollier, Jr., 96, peacefully passed away on the 2nd of August 2017 at his home in Mason, Texas. He was a gentle soul, born on August 14, 1920, in Dallas, Texas to Lee Elton Brollier, Sr. and Irma Jean Black Brollier. Bill grew up in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1939 and from Schreiner Institute in 1942.

Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” who are trying our best to enjoy life to the fullest, journeyed to Llano in July, “taking the party” to Mary Ellen Merkel, one of our own who now resides there. A small but select group made the trip, where we enjoyed a pot luck luncheon and, of course, we talked about the people who didn’t attend.
