Blanco Performing Arts celebrated their 10th anniversary with style and elegance in the form of Julia Pautz and Tina Chong. Blanco was indeed fortunate to have received a concert from musicians of their renown and ability. Julia Pautz, violinist, is a native of Blanco who earned a Master of Music degree with honors from the University of Southern California as well as many other accreditations.
One of the more prolific writers in the history of the Blanco County News wasn’t an editor or reporter, but a person who moved between selling ads, writing history pieces and opining editorial pieces. Bernice West, who worked at the paper from February 1983 to 1993, wore many hats during her tenure at the paper. Blanco ISD in conjunction with Health Hero will be hosting a free flu shot clinic on Monday, Sep 30. Students and staff who fill out a consent form and return it by Wednesday, Sept. 25 will receive flu shots on their campuses for no cost. 8:45 until 9:30 a.m. for the elementary school, 9:45 until 10:30 a.m.

Anna Sue McNett, 98, of Cushing, Texas died peacefully in the early morning of Sept. 8, 2019 at her home with members of her family at bedside. Born in Twitty, Texas in 1921, she was the eldest daughter of Texas Panhandle rancher and farmer Haemer Milton Williams and his wife Zell Bell Williams.

Doris Arlene Cox, 92, of Blanco Texas, passed away Sept. 6, 2019. Doris was born August 4, 1927 in Hartland, Michigan to Byron and Altha Yager. Doris lived in Blanco for over 30 years, having moved here from Dallas to be closer to her children who live in Blanco, San Antonio and Austin.
Our beloved Grand Dad, Richard C. “Dick” Welch, passed away peacefully early Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, just eight days before his 88th birthday, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas. Dick was born Sept. 17, 1931 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Fern Caruthers and Virgil Harold “Fudge” Welch. As a geologist for Amerada Oil Company, Virgil traveled somewhat often, so Fern stayed home and “corralled” the kids—Dick and his elder sister Eunice.

Stefan Andrew Roeder was born in Fredericksburg, TX on February 4, 1991 at 7:59 a.m. A scheduled c-section, this was the first of many times he had to be reluctantly pulled from his resting place. He passed away in San Antonio, TX on Sept. 11, 2019 at 11:44 a.m. Stefan is survived by his mother, Theresa Roeder; his father, Kermit “Bear” Roeder Jr.; his fiancée Jennifer Williams; his son and pride and joy, Rowdy Andrew Roeder; son Riley Stacks; sisters, Sandra Gass, Savannah, Kaylee and ...
