Blanco County Judge Brett Bray called the regular meeting of the Blanco County Commissioners Court to order at 9 a.m. Tuesday with commissioners Tommy Weir, Emil Uecker, Chris Liesmann and Paul Granberg present. The meeting was held through video conferencing platform, Zoom.
The minutes of the prior meeting were approved. The estimated June 2020 payroll of $305,383.32 was approved next.
The June Planning and Zoning Meeting was called to order by Susan Moore, chair, at 6:35 p.m. on June 1 with commissioners: Trey Priour, Mike Green, R.K. Seals, Loris Perkins and Christine Anderson present. The meeting was held at the Byars Building but also live broadcasted through MyMeeting.
Moore encouraged all Blanco citizens to participate in and attend the P&Z meetings.
The Blanco Coalition of Awareness, Prevention and Treatment of Substance Abuse (CoAPT) has begun planning events for the upcoming school year.
The planning committee met via Zoom on Monday, June 1 to discuss three events. In August, the coalition plans to partner with the Blanco Lions Club and its “Stuff the Bus” event.
Seven senior baseball players at Blanco High School who were members of the 2019 state finalist team graduated May 29 with the other members of the class of 2020 who also lost sports seasons, prom, award ceremonies and time with classmates.
These seven seniors had their sights set on another deep run in the baseball playoffs, with the state tournament as the ultimate goal.
Like so many students, in Blanco and throughout the country, the Blanco High School softball team saw its 2020 season come to a sudden and unexpected end. As a result, a good team was denied the chance to see how far they could have gone in the playoffs. Many of the players will have an opportunity to try again next year, but not the team’s four seniors.

Timothy Mark White of Spring Branch passed away the evening of Friday, May 29, 2020 at his family’s ranch in Blanco. Timothy was born March 31, 1968 in Baytown.
He is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Jan White; older brother, Stephen White, his wife Jacqueline and family; younger sister, Robin Justis , her husband Lance and family; his companion, Sharon; and his fur baby “Buddy.” Tim is also survived by numerous extended family members and dear friends.

Lifetime resident of Blanco, Ronald Thomas Cooley, known as Ronnie Cooley, passed away on June 1, 2020. He was born in Blanco at the Old Blanco Courthouse on March 31, 1955 to Samuel Richard Cooley (Sam, as he was known) and Ada (Franke) Cooley. At that time, the courthouse had been converted into a hospital.
The Cooleys owned and operated a dairy farm, the “Triple C Dairy,” and farm near Blanco, and C & C Grocery Store (where CJ’s Exxon is currently located) in Blanco for many years.
