The Blanco Good Samaritan Center’s thrift store will now be open two days a week.
The center announced last week that its thrift store will now be open Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Thursdays.
Donations will still be accepted only on Thursdays, from noon to 5 p.m.
Light Night was the place to be on Halloween night, and COVID-19 did not keep guests away from the fun.
The weather was a perfect fall evening, and approximately 900 to 1,000 guests attended the annual event, hosted by First Baptist Church in Blanco. There were costume contests, game booths, hay rides, buggy rides, and plenty of food and candy on hand for everyone who attended the free event.

Blanco County’s active COVID-19 cases increased by six over the past week, the county’s office of emergency management announced Friday.
BCOEM announced 34 active cases in its Oct. 30 report, up from 28 announced Oct. 23. The announcement included 24 active confirmed cases and 10 active probable cases, up from 20 and eight, respectively, announced Oct.
Blanco Ballet participated in a National Cecchetti Exam session on Saturday, Oct. 31. Ballerinas take exams to pass on to the next level of their ballet studies.
Three ballerinas completed their fourth student level and will now be studying the first professional level, Elementary or Level 5. These dancers are Sidney Johnson, Madison Fenley and Analucia Oyler.
A new look and gateway monument signage could be on the way for Blanco.

The Blanco volleyball team won its bi-district playoff game against Marion on Thursday, Oct. 29. They advanced to the area round, which was played Tuesday night after press time. Blanco finished strong at home in Friday’s game against rival Comfort.
The Panthers (7-2, 2-1) exploded for 22 fourth quarter points to put away the Bobcats (6-3, 0-3) for a 42-28 district victory in the regular season home finale. The game was tied at halftime before Blanco vanquished its foe in the second half.
“Nothing will beat the feeling of beating a rival on my last home game ever,” said Brandon Gombert.
Blanco used a powerful, balanced offensive attack and a strong defense to shut out Marion 3-0 in the Bi-district playoff Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Canyon Lake High School gym.
Using six hitters, the Lady Panthers tallied 30 kills. The front line made 12 blocks to control the net and stop any momentum from the Marion hitters.
Our “Longhorn”, William “Bill” Henry Mayer Jr passed away at his family ranch in Blanco on Oct. 29, 2020. He was the son of Lt. Col. William H. and Anita Richards Mayer.
Bill graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1959, and graduated in 1965 from the University of Texas, Austin (bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering).
Beverly Anne Burris, 71, returned to her heavenly home on Oct. 30, 2020 after a valiant long battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in Jesus supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Beverly was born to the late John J. Mazurek and late Frances E.
Will Marasek was born on Feb. 9,1953 in Houston, to Willie Marasek Sr. and Peggyann Marasek. He passed peacefully away surrounded by his family on Oct. 30, 2020.
Will was raised in Bellaire and graduated from Bellaire High School. He then went on to graduate from Southwest Texas State University. While at SWT, he became a runner for University Savings Bank, and after graduating college, he moved back to Houston and continued working for University Savings.
Charles Allen Bendele of Hye passed away from colon cancer Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at his home.
He was born April 30, 1943 in Abilene, to the late Henry George and Bonnie (née Schroeder) of Blanco, while his father was in officer training during World War II. He was a 1961 graduate of Blanco High School.
