Water customers in the City of Blanco have endured another water shortage, the second water service disruption in 6 months. The taps went dry for around 1,200 water customers in mid-February during the winter storm. The Blanco Police Department received a recognition from the Texas Police Chiefs Association at the Aug. 10 city council meeting. The Police Chiefs Association Foundation presented Blanco Police Chief Scott Rubin its Best Practices Recognition. This accreditation process found that Blanco Police comply with the state’s rigorous standards for professional excellence.
Blanco ISD superintendent Clay Rosenbaum and head softball coach Michael Seales accept a check from Stormy Pruitt, Hondo National Bank Senior Vice President and Blanco President. The donation will pay for a new scoreboard at the BHS softball field. The new scoreboard will be a tremendous improvement over the current scoreboard, including inning-by-inning scoring.

We are having typical August weather. It’s important to wear proper protection when outside and drink plenty of water. KBB starts working at the park every Tuesday, weather permitting, about 8:30 a.m. We work until 10:30 or 11 a.m. Watering is our most important job during this season. Trimming bloomed out flowers and shrubs are second, plus it is time to fertilize pots and plants.

The Blanco cross country team officially started its season with a meet at Our Lady of the Hills High School in Kerrville Saturday, Aug. 14. Tommie was born December 8, 1952 to Tommie Ross Turner Sr and Betsy Robinson Turner. He grew up in what used to be the “small” town of Frisco, on a farm. He attended Texas A&M on a rodeo scholarship, returning to his farming and ranching family life after a serious bull riding accident. Several years later, he became a successful entrepreneur, building a large advertising firm in Dallas.
Peggy Jean Moore Sparks was born in San Antonio on March 19, 1930. Peggy died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at Sedro Memory Care in Georgetown. She is survived by her brother, Roger Keith Moore of Blanco; her children, James Clifton Sparks and wife Lynda of Bastrop, Lucy Ellen Sparks Neyens and husband Neil of Blanco, Mary Alice Sparks Davis and husband Mike of Burnet, and Dr.
