Psalm 120:6-7 says, "My soul hath long dwelt with him that hates peace. I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war." King David recognized that peace was not wholly up to him. Though we all may desire peace; and as Christians, we should desire peace; that decision is not always ours to make.
Life is so short for some of us. God's Word says "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise), "that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land."
A little girl asked her grandpa if he could make a sound like a frog. Grandpa said, "sure", and then said, "ribbit, ribbit." The little girl ran to grandma and said, "We are finally going to disney world, we are going to disney world!" Grandma said, "What makes you say that?"
Mar 10:29-30 And Jesus answered and said, "Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world (age) to come eternal life." Today we continue our study on the Kingdom of God.
There is so much in Proverbs that I used to not like to read it. Someone showed me there are 31 Proverbs, one for each day of the month, and she suggested I read it that way. I've never been able to consistently read one each day, but I have managed to get through all of them!
Stupid, lazy, slob; that does nothing but watch sports on TV, drinks beer, and whistles at scantly clad women. That's the image portrayed in your average sit-com these days of a father and husband. It is sad, and it is shameful. Fatherhood is a God given position of honor, responsibility, and leadership.
Two hillbillies, Rufus and Clarence had been enemies for years. All that separated them was a wide river. For years each man would go down to the bank and yell at each other promising that if they could swim they would swim the river and give the other beating. One year the Army Corps of Engineers built a bridge over the river.
God's Word says a lot about love. And we human beings don't know how to show real love. I think many of us don't really know what real love is. I've seen animals display more love than some people! We all should study what God's Word says about love. Today a lady I was talking to said she doesn't love anyone, not even herself.
Act 20:35 I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." When we give, it shall be given unto us: good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over (Lk 6:38).
Rom 5:1-5 (expounded) "Therefore being justified (regarded as innocent, free, righteous) by faith (belief, trust, confidence), we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace (undeserved, unearned, goodwill, loving kindness, favor) wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope (anticipation or expectation of something good) of the glory of God.
