God's Word is so good! It is always so timely, too. I was reading Romans chapters 10 and 11, and it sure gives insight even now, to what's going on in Israel. Their rejection (blindness) is what led to the salvation of the Gentiles, and so we who were the wild olive tree are now (through our faith in Christ Jesus) grafted on to the olive tree, but he warns us not to be high minded, because if God did break off the branches so we could be grafted in, He can also break off the grafted branches (b ...
I encourage you to read Mt 12:33-37 carefully. Notice in particular what Jesus says in vs. 35 "A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things." We see a good man has a heart full of good treasure and brings forth good things.
"8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8
Our kind of fasting is not really what God wants.
Many people give up things for Lent, as a type of fast.
One day I asked my great-aunt how to hear God speak to us. She said I had to have faith that since I asked Him what to do, from that point on He would lead me.
I believe He puts desires in our hearts to lead us so we will be walking in His will for us, which is all good.
Why get water baptized? 1. Jesus commanded it. It is an act of obedience. Matt 28:19-20 says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you..."
White lies, gray lies, black lies and down right pathological liars!
Which one are you? When I became convicted of lying the Holy Spirit showed me that I was telling lies more than I realized. People don't even bat an eye while giving someone an untruthful compliment, or saying "I've missed you!"
I encourage you to read 2Cor 4:15-18. Verse 17 says, "For our light affliction (tribulation, trouble, persecution), which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." Notice, Paul encourages us to count our afflictions as "light", but the exceeding eternal glory as "weighty".
I encourage you to read Mark 11:12-14, 19-24. Verses 23-24 say "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Are there some things the LORD has told you to do that you haven't done yet? Are there some things you need to take care of?
I purchased two new bibles this past weekend, and as soon as we got home, both Lawrence and myself were pouring over our new bibles like kids with new toys.
I encourage you to read Matt. 14:22-31 carefully. This is the famous Biblical story of the morning that Peter - a man just like us - literally walked on water. This was not a figure of speech, or made-up tale, told in order to communicate some deeper truth. While there are depths to this story to be grasped, we must understand that this actually, truly happened.
