Evelyn Emma (Schaefer) Heckel received her angel wings on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 at the age of 93. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Evelyn was born on Dec. 21, 1924 in New Braunfels, Texas to Ernst and Emma (Burkhardt) Schaefer. She was the first born of twin daughters. Evelyn met Emil Heckel in 1954 at a German dance hall in New Braunfels.
Sallie Jean Wagner, 67, passed from life Sunday, January 28, 2018 at LBJ Medical Center in Johnson City, TX. She was born at the Blanco County Courthouse to Raymond and Imogene Treisch Wagner, both grandchildren of the area’s early settlers. Sallie spent her early years in Corpus Christi before going to the state school for special education in Austin where she lived for 25 years.
George Carlton Hagelstein, Jr., passed away in the comfort of his home Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the age of 89. Born June 6, 1928 in San Antonio, Carlton was the only child of Olive Graves Ellis and George Carlton Hagelstein, Sr., who preceded him in death. He is also predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Cameron Hagelstein; son-in-law, Mark A.
Joseph Dorman Jones was born February 20, 1921 in San Saba, Texas to Frank and Dollie Jones. Growing up he had five older sisters and an older brother. On March 1, 1939 he enlisted in the Cavalry and when WW II started he was sent to the South Pacific where he served until the end of the war.

Nina Jo Page Artzt passed away peacefully on the morning of Jan. 13, 2018. She was born in Granger, Texas on Feb. 7, 1931, to David Wayman Page and Lilly Opal Farr Page. Nina graduated from Blanco High School in Blanco, Texas and was a cheerleader, which aided in her leadership qualities.
Surrounded by the love of her family, Dorothy Lucretia (Wagner) Smith, 92, of Blanco, Texas was received into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Jan. 12, 2018. Dorothy was born on Jan. 26, 1925 in Blanco County to Albert Paul and Winnie Muriel (Crossley) Wagner. As a teenager, she joined the Baptist Church and was baptized.

Leona Belle Calhoun, 103, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at LBJ medical Center in Johnson City, TX. She was born March 26, 1914 in Henly, TX to James Thomas Jennings and Ida Belle (Brown) Jennings. Being the last of fourteen children, Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Robert Cecil Calhoun; two sons, “Bob” Calhoun Jr.

Susan Louise Bermes, 70, passed away Dec. 25, 2017, in San Antonio. She was born Dec. 1, 1947, in Alton, Il. to Merle and Marilyn Mosby. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Marilyn. She is survived by her dear friend and companion, Allen Heskew; son, James Bermes and wife, Lisa; brother, Robert Mosby and wife, Mary; and two granddaughters, Megan and Bethany. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m.

Ian Patrick Ray passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, in Blanco, Texas at 23 years old. Ian is survived by: his father, Danny Ray; step-mother, Dorothy Ray; mother, Faith Kaufhold Ray; brother, Chris Ray; sister, Mackenzie and husband, Chase Howells and soon-to-be nephew Hudson Howells; step siblings, Kelsi, Caitlin, Candace and Sean.
Jerry Jackson Stapleton, 82, passed away December 24, 2017 in Blanco, TX. Jerry was born April 6, 1935 in Leakey, TX, to Pearl Jackson Stapleton and Prentiss (Tomerlin) Stapleton. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Glenda Surber; and son, William Stapleton Massey. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Frances Arlene Stapleton; sister, Joyce Springer; daughter, Marcy Lubianski and husband, Kevin; step-son, Ricky Tomasini; step-daughter, Lisa Gossett; step-son, Kevin Gossett and ...
