Mayor Rhonda Stell issued a proclamation on February 12th, 2021 that designated March 1, 2021, as COVID-19 Victims and Survivors Memorial Day in the City of Johnson City, Texas. The Mayor and City Council urge all citizens to remember those who have lost their lives and honor those who are forever marked by COVID-19 and those who continue to suffer from the impact of this virus.
The Johnson City Library staff is excited to announce that the library has made a new addition to the outdoor area. Behind the library along the walking path, you will now find a new Story Walk, an activity that can be enjoyed by everyone, old or young. The Story Walk was put in place to promote reading in a non-traditional setting while also interacting with nature.
Johnson City already had more hungry families because of coronavirus-related job losses, and then came the Great Blizzard of 2021, further depleting food supplies. By Tricia Hartmann The ESD-1 Commissioners held a meeting at the North Blanco County EMS Building on February 22, 2021, as well as via Zoom. President David O’Bannon called the meeting to order at 7 pm, and a quorum was established. Commissioners approved the minutes from January 18 following motion from Vice President Brandt Raeburn and second by Commissioner Kirk McElhenney.

The tournament has been renamed the “Joe Garcia Memorial Tournament” in honor of our club’s founder, Joe Garcia, and the many contributions he made to the Blanco community.

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Texas has extended its application deadline for the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) from March 1, 2021, to March 10, 2021, due to recent weather-related power outages across Texas. By Terry Wiemers The Johnson City Womans Civic Club began 2021 with a fascinating program on bees presented by beekeepers Diane Schoenert, President of the Blanco County Master Gardeners and her husband Stephen. Women club members joined the presentation/meeting on Zoom and learned that bees are an important part of the eco-system as pollinators and honey producers.
