This March, the Johnson City Lions Club will be distributing several thousands of dollars to community non-profit organizations. The is an annual event for the JC Lions Club. If your organization has a special need and wishes to apply, you will need to submit a request indicating your need and a rationale for the need.

The summer of 2011 was a special time in Johnson City. That June our high school baseball team won the state championship in Class 1A! It was a time of celebration.
The championship tee shirt stated "Small Town, Big Pride." Big pride indeed! It was fun to be proud of this accomplishment and to be from Johnson City.

The headlines last week in the Courier, "Joe Summy questions necessity of new stadium", needs some clarification. My comments and intent at the JCISD board meeting were to challenge the JCISD School Board to make it clear to the public what the new multi-million dollar sports stadium is going to be used for besides five high school football games a year.

Sustainability is one of those words that is used prolifically and questionably as an advertising adjective. It is so over used that it ceases to have meaning. However, it is a very important concept in boom times.
Texas and the Hill Country are now in the middle of an economic boom.

Like many faithful readers, I always enjoy your "year in review" special section. Reminds us of where we've been as a community, while inspiring us to move forward into the New Year with gratitude and hope.
