The Llano Varsity 5th & 6th grade team ended their season this past weekend with a semi-final playoff loss to the #1 seeded Kingsland Yellowjackets. The Llano team had a fine season as they made the playoffs for the 5th straight year, which was a great accomplishment as they only returned three players from last season’s championship team and the roster consisted primarily of 5th grade players.
The Llano sub-varsity Jackets ended their seasons this past Thursday as both teams played Navarro. While each team came up short against the Panthers, the freshmen and JV Jackets both ended the year with winning seasons as the Freshmen finished with a 6-4 record while the Junior Varsity ended the year with a 7-3 record and a runner-up finish in District.
GERONIMO—Every game, no matter the sport, has its own personality. No two alike, no twins. That certainly was the case, November 6, as unbeaten Navarro (9-0) downed Llano (3-7), 31-0. Nothing mysterious there, as the Panthers rolled—as expected—to an outright 13-4A title. The original characteristic, that DNA by itself, was the Jacket coaches’ and players’ reaction following the lopsided defeat. “It was a confidence-building game, Believe it or Not,” said Ripley’s Craig Slaughte ...
This is what reporters do when they can’t fill a page or two about one story. It’s a montage of (superficial) brilliance, which makes this lead paragraph a perfect introduction. Never give up Remember Salado’s visit to Llano, October 2? The Eagles had a 24-14 lead in an effort to break a 19-game losing streak.
You can tell the landscape looks like diamonds now and will soon be back-to-back jewels behind the buildings at Llano High School. They are the new softball and baseball fields, creating an on-campus look for the first time. “Love going out every day and seeing the changes,” said softball head coach Bobby Williams. The first piece of evidence that this project was en route to reality (for me) was when you saw what appeared to be the beginning of the outfield fences.
Prepare to be wowed as you enter this historical brownstone which has been transformed into Todd and Dana Wright’s home. This Historical Place is one of the homes included in the Woman’s Culture Club of Llano’s annual Holiday Home Tour scheduled for December 5. They purchased the building last year with the intent to make the building their home.

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”   You’ve heard this well known quote many times but haven’t allowed it to make a difference in your life.  And unless you change your view about what really matters, you’ll keep focusing on what you can accumulate rather than on what you can share, missing the point of the promise and the pleasure of its fulfillment. A man who had discovered he had a terminal illness voiced his disillusionment with life to me.
Veteran’s Day will be celebrated this week on November the 11th. In honor of that day, the articles that have been written in the past five years have focused on showing our appreciation for the efforts of various veterans from past wars. In continuation of this practice, two men have been selected to honor for contributions during their life-long careers in the military.

Dear Editor, How the City of Llano spends the money we pay into it sometimes looks quite unclear. Here are two city expenses that don’t look clear, but affect my small neighborhood: (1) Council approved an agenda item to spend $58,000 to clear an alley. Before the vote, Councilman Todd Keller stated that was more money than the surrounding land is worth.
