A representative from the Northland Cable Company reported that they are in the process of upgrading their infrastructure. They have five stations and are adding six more. They are making improvements and expanding the internet service in Llano and also upgrading signal power. Because of all the improvements, they asked that the tap fee be reduced.
The Christmas Lighting Committee met last Thursday, to discuss the plans for the Rock’N Riverfest. They discussed the barbeque cookoff. The prizes will be 80% pay back; that is, 80% of the money collected from the cookoff entry fees will be split between the top three winners. A reminder to the kids that want to go into the “Kid’s Rides” area that they will need to purchase a $10 wrist band and keep it on all day.
On Father's Day weekend, members of the Texas Indian Hobbyist Association (TIHA) returned to Llano after a 14-year absence. The Kuykendall Arena and Event Center was a major draw to the association leadership. "Our membership has fond memories of camping and dancing on the banks of the Llano River," said Chairman, Brian Belding of Cypress, Texas.
Thursday night was a farewell and a new welcome to a Llano business on the corner of Main Street and Ford Street. Michael Virdell and his wife Kay have sold Main Street Affairs after five years to Brittany Baker and her husband, Chuck. After a brief closure next week, the Wine Bar will reopen as The Barrel House, offering Texas wines and craft beers, along with a section of California wines.

Over 30 artists were set up in 19 different locations downtown and one set up across the bridge at Robinson's Antiques & Custom Wood Works.

Luke Snitkin (graduate of LHS 2016), was recognized as an All-American Rugby player in the All-Star Championship tournament in Houston in May at AVEVA Stadium.  He will be considered for two USAR Collegiate All-American camps to be held in July. I want to tell you, of the many things I dislike about the media, second guessing is easily in the top ten. I’m talking about the Kevin Durant injury. The day after the Achilles damage, too many writers, broadcasters, bloggers and old-time pundits blasted the Warriors for playing Durant in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
This is one of those commentaries that won’t change the world—uh, like so many of mine have—and it’s the discussion of a very brief action. With that inspiring and grabber for a prologue, here goes. Gary Bettman, the NHL Commissioner, and Adam Silver, same resume with the NBA, made presentations last week to the basketball champion and the winner of the Stanley Cup. “Why,” you reasonably ask, “is this worth my time?” Because Bettman was booed, something that happens almo ...
HORSESHOE BAY—I can’t speak for everyone in the audience, but as far as I’m concerned, Texas Tech got a dandy in new Head Football Coach, Matt Wells. Wells had that job at Utah State, 2013-’18, before accepting an offer to succeed Kliff Kingsbury. “{Tech} hit a home run with the hire,” said retired coach Dennis Franchione, whose employers included TCU, Alabama and Texas A&M.
The springtime Jackets almost threw (literally) a perfect game or games, June 12, scoring 73 points and giving up seven in what else? The 7-on-7 triangle offense with Fredericksburg and Mason. “Whoever is in there,” Offensive Coordinator Ryan Priem said, looking ahead to late summer, “quarterback, receiver or running back, we’ll have options.” Indeed.

Happy little memories go flitting through my mind, and in all my thoughts and memories I always find, the picture of your face Mom, the memory of your touch and all the other things I’ve come to treasure so much.  You cannot go beyond my thoughts or leave my love behind because I keep you in my heart and forever in my mind. Patsy Sue Enloe, 82, of Kingsland, Texas, joyfully left her earthly body to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved family on June 6, 2019.  She was born Februar ...
What does ethics or being ethical mean to you? Ethics are the moral codes and values by which we live our lives. I often think about the old saying “Who are you when no one is watching?” To me, how I act when no one is watching shows my true ethical character. Ethics are not just about your feelings, laws, or social norms, because all these things can be associated with actions that can deviate from what is ethical.
It’s great to have friends that share your interests; friends you can bounce ideas off of and discover and perfect new ways of doing things. I have such a friend in Deryl Markgraf. Deryl and I met a few years ago and became instant friends. The love of hunting wild hogs and then transforming the meat into tasty meals created the bond between us and lots of time together hunting and fishing strengthened that bond. My friend is not a person that delves lightly into anything.
