Driving past the John L Kuykendall Event Center and Arena on Saturday night would cause someone to wonder what was happening out there. Not only was the Event Room full, the fully enclosed, air conditioned concession area of the arena was packed with folks lined up for the evening fare.

I will be broadcasting it live on https://www.facebook.com/TexasHillCountry/ where a million people will be able to hear and view it.
Llano offers some of the most beautiful scenic views in the Texas Hill Country. With lush, rolling hills to clifftop views, riding in and around Llano is picturesque. Returning to Llano for the second year is the largest women’s biker parade in the country: Ladies in Leather. The group was created to bring women together through sisterhood and unity.
Originally formed as a different organization, Ladies in Leather is a new chapter in the female motorcycling community.

Hill Country Community Theatre opens its 2019-20 season with the World Première of the new musical comedy More Senior Moments, book, music and lyrics by Linda Kaufman.
This sequel to Senior Moments, produced by HCCT in 2017, is a series of rollicking musical vignettes dealing with aging. Growing older has many facets and can be uproarious at times and deeply moving at others.
“I wanted to make the band better,” reported Brianna Desai when she was asked why she wanted to be a section leader for the 2019-2020 LHS Yellow Jacket Band. The senior leader may be soft-spoken and rule with a velvet glove, but her charges in the clarinet section have definitely responded to her gentle style and earned “Section of the Week” honors during the first week of the band’s marching season.
The Llano Freshman Black and Llano JV recorded their second victories of the year, while the Llano Freshman Orange suffered their first defeat.
Comfort JV 28, Llano Freshman Orange 6
Although there were no stats to report, the loss evens the Orange record to 1-1.
Llano Freshman Black 24, Jarrell Frosh 6
The Llano Black team relied on a stingy and opportunistic defense.
The turning point was when the parents of Braxton Vickers and Case Kuykendall were told, “It’s a boy!”
The Jackets had this one won in about the time it takes to sweat through Barney Fife keeping a prisoner in the Mayberry jail.
Llano (2-0) scored a remarkable 30 points in the second quarter and a co-remarkable 49 in two periods.
HORSESHOE BAY—There haven’t been too many coaches to succeed legends and be as successful as Fred Akers was. Those who followed Red Blaik at Army, Wilkinson and Switzer (OU), Lombardi (Green Bay) and Bryant at A&M and ’Bama, had their problems, but Akers led Texas to an 11-1 record in 1977, his first year after the retirement of Darrell Royal.
The cross country Jackets were on school soil, September 7, and produced fine numbers. The boys’ junior varsity, a young bunch, finished second in the team standings, and Anna Casey may not have won the varsity girls’ division, finishing fourth, but she posted her best clocking of the year: 12 minutes, 52 seconds for two miles.
“I am happy with my time,” she told me.

A certain situation has been building in the parsonage for the last several months. At first, I did not think it too serious but alas, we have reached a terrible impasse.
It started a few months ago when I came home, walked into the house and was hit in the face so hard I almost passed out.
As hunters and lovers of the outdoors, we all have places that are near and dear to our hearts; places that the mere thought of brings a smile and rekindles great memories. Red River County in northeast Texas is such a place for me. I spent my formative years growing up on our broiler farm in the northern part of the county.
