As the deadline to submit comments or requests for a public hearing draws near, the Lower Colorado River Authority has seen residents expressing their concerns about a proposed sand mining plant along the Llano River arm of Lake LBJ.
Folks have until tomorrow, Feb. 4, to submit comments or protests regarding the Kingsland Sand & Gravel Plant; the deadline to request a public hearing is Monday Feb.
On Monday, January 25, 2021, the Llano Chamber of Commerce began visiting schools and businesses via the Llano Chamber Surprise Patrol, to deliver the Chamber’s annual community awards. The awards, normally given during the Annual Chamber banquet, were instead given “Publisher’s Clearing House” style, because of COVID-19.
Llano Executive Director Briley Mitchell said, “It was a challenge to keep everything under wraps and not let anyone know who won before the announcement.
The City will be renewing a five year contract with our current solid waste services provider, Waste Connection Lone Star, Inc.
Let’s review some important points about the service.
Roll outs should be placed within 5 feet of the curb before 7 am on collection day. All household garbage should be bagged and tied.

Llano High School officially began preseason for spring sports on Saturday, Jan. 30 as the Lady Jackets varsity soft-ball team had its first scrimmage of 2021 at home against Dublin High School.

Mary Bell Chambers Ratliff passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the age of 97. She was born in DeLeon, Texas on October 9, 1924 to Lulla Bell Jackson Chambers and Todd Robinson Chambers.
Mary Ratliff is survived by her daughter Sandra Coward, grandson Henry Coward, III, and granddaughter Christy Coward.

Sheila Kadene Grimes, 70, of Llano passed away Janu-ary 27, 2021 in Round Rock, Texas. She was born to Doyle and Rose (Walker) Ratliff on May 18, 1950 in Taft, California.
Sheila was a family-oriented woman. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She truly cherished her family. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours practicing her shooting skills at the gun range.
