This past week has been a busy one at Starry Starry Nights, the annual walkway of lights along the banks of the Llano River. On a recent night, the first visitors to the park had a little bit of an accent, not a southern draw, in fact, one that was not an American accent at all.

Dr. David Hoerster recently told my sister that her husband was currently his oldest patient. That man is Olvis Osbourn, and on Nov. 26, 2016, he celebrated his 95th birthday. Family and friends gathered at the Llano Church of Christ annex to express their love and appreciation for the honoree. A large crowd assembled on a come and go basis to offer congratulations and to share fond memories.

Most Friday and Saturday nights in December, Santa Claus, of the North Pole, takes time out of his busy pre-Christmas schedule to stop by Badu Park in Llano as the guest of honor at Starry Starry Nights. Dena Wilson, Llano Elementary School librarian, readies for the book fair at the school this week. It began Monday and runs through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Family Reading Night is from 5:30-7 p.m. at the school on Thursday, Dec. 8.
