On Friday night at Llano High School, the class of 2019 entered the history books as the latest to graduate from our local school. This group of 113 high school seniors left their mark in the classroom, as well as on the field of sports. Alyssa Lia Pruitt ‘Boespflug, daughter of Kennith and Stormy Boespflug, embodies all that it means to be a Texas cowgirl at the young age of 16. Whether it is searching for a lost steer or walking small children around on her horses, her love of animals is paramount. She is no stranger to a strict schedule and holds her Texas values to high standards.
The Thrift Dimension is a thrift shop in Llano that benefits local nonprofit organizations. Previously loved household items, decorative objects, art, jewelry, clothing and more are available all at bargain prices. Donations are graciously accepted. The Thrift Dimensions is in need of volunteers to help keep the shop open for your business!
It is well underway and begins in full tomorrow night at the John L Kuykendall Event Center and Arena— the 84th Llano Open Pro Rodeo. Slack performance starts at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 6, with full rodeo performances on Friday and Saturday nights, June 7 & 8. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
Tonight I am honored to stand in front of you, the family, friends, and teachers of these fine individuals that we will soon call Llano High School graduates. I knew I would love this group from their very first class meeting with me three years ago as they began their sophomore year.
You may have already noticed, but Cox Paving is back in town and in full force on the Street Project. The rain and flooding from last fall caused delays that pushed the project into an unfavorable time of the year for paving. Cox Paving and their subcontractors have been repairing the base coat and potholes on many of the streets on the North side of town prior to application of rubberized chip seal, or the topcoat.
School’s out for SUMMER!! The kiddos are so excited, but how soon before that excitement turns to boredom? Not to worry, parents, the Llano Library has you covered! Summer Reading Program starts this week and it’s a great way to fill some of those long, hot, “I’m bored”, summer days – and it will get your kids reading, too!
Plans are being made for the fourth annual Rock’N Riverfest and Jet Ski Races. It looks like it will be THE place to be on Saturday, July 6.
