Last week, we had some fantastic kids and adults come to clean up the library and the grounds as part of Blue Ribbon Service Week. They lopped off suckers, hauled off limbs, cleaned windows, dusted shelves—well, just about anything that could be dusted, they did. So we are saying a giant "Thank You!"
Tommy Chew, of Mason, passed away on Saturday, November 7, at the age of 72.
Tommy is survived by his children Tim Chew and wife Darinda of Mason and Tracy Montoya of Mason. He is also survived by five grandchildren Ryan Mehal of San Antonio, Tyler Chew of Brady, Carley Chew of Mason, Brooke Falgout of Mason, Kyle Montoya of Mason, a step-grandson T.J.
Like other Texas voters, Mason County residents overwhelmingly approved all seven of the proposed constitutional amendments to the Texas Constitution. Mason County voters also had one other issue on their ballot, a $4.5 million bond issue for the Mason I.S.D. That, too, passed by a large margin.

The Friends of the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library held its annual meeting on November 5, 2015. The Cowgirls wrapped up their season placing sixth as a team this past Saturday at the 2015 State Cross Country Championships. They were led by state medalist, Ella Canfield, who placed 10th overall in Class 2A!
The course at Old Settler's Park had been rained on for a day and a half prior to our race which began at 2:40.
Opening day for hunters this past weekend began with rain and chilly temperatures but was no deterrent to the cheerful volunteers of Mason Community Kitchen! They were gathered to prepare a meal to be available to recipients of the Mason Food Bank.
This month's culinary selection was SOPA de CALABASA, a hearty, nutritious (& delicious!) soup requiring them to dice & slice and simmer & season before freezing in family sized containers in time for the monthly distribution.

I love High School Football! When I first came to Mason, the Punchers won the State Title!!!! Last year they went to the finals in State. Now this year the Punchers have clinched District again!!!! I remember when I played. I was nowhere near as good as the Punchers and played in another geologic time period.
GLA stands for gamma-linolenic acid, an essential fatty acid. GLA belongs to the omega 6 category of fats – if you have been reading this column, you already know that Americans get too much omega 6 and not enough omega 3 and omega 9. GLA's are the exception – we actually consume very little of them and with certain conditions supplementing GLA is extremely beneficial.

If I were to give out 'Employee of the Month' awards every month, Pat Wentworth would have won several by now. Not that Pat is one of my employees, because he's not. Not like any of my other employees. Which is why I've never given him an Employee of the Month Award.
I have one smart granddaughter dog, Lucy, a one and a half year old Lab. She escaped from her house, and came to see me and opened the back door and let herself in. Shannon and the boys were frantically hunting for her. However, Lucy knows not to get in the road and took the pasture roads to the house.

It has been a lovely week. The weather was fall like. The rain was nice. Today was a treat. Our guest pastor was District Superintendent Rev. Steve Purdy. We then welcomed our newlyweds, Amanda and Abraham Leamons with a church dinner.

The 7th grade won a hard fought game against a good Ozona team on Thursday, 16-0. Lots of improvements have been made from the beginning of the season until now and this game proved it. Our defense played extremely well and pitched another shutout and our offense kept the ball for a majority of the game making it difficult for Ozona to get anything going.

Clara Ellen Woodward, of San Antonio, passed away on Thursday, November 5, at the age of 78.
Ms. Woodward is survived by her children Teresa Michele Kahn and husband Warren, Michael Norman Woodward and wife Carrie and Lisa Mollie Woodward all of San Antonio, four grandchildren Casey Kahn, Shelby Kahn, Kayla Woodward and Kameron Woodard and a very special cousin Diane Struck of Indiana.
Mr. Henrique Cantu of Fredericksburg passed away on Tuesday October 20th in the Hill Country Memorial Hospital at the age of 67 years.
Henrique was born November 19, 1947, in Levelland, TX, to Thomas and Angelita Martinez Cantu.
