I hope you were blessed on Friday with rain. My gauge showed 3.75 inches. We were so happy to see the ground soak up the rain. Labor Day is September 2. We don’t do much on this holiday since we are retired, but it is nice to have a chill day. There will be a covered dish lunch on September 8 following the morning worship to celebrate Grandparent’s Day. Mark your calendars on September 22.

How Do We Look to Them? On Thursday night, the Mason Punchers will meet up with the Wall Hawks for the opening game of the 2019 season. The first anomaly is that the game is going to be on a Thursday night. The second anomaly is that the game begins at 7:00 rather than 7:30.
Gerry, Of all your editorials I have read since beginning my move to Mason, I must say I especially appreciate the one in yesterday’s edition (Aug. 21, ‘19). Truth, or something like it The Chicken Littles are once again running around, squawking, and grabbing all the buckets they can find to catch the falling sky. They fully believed that cruising was ready to “take off.” Galvestonians--proud of their historic island city--were “in” for the long haul, and Carnival officials wanted to be.

Back in the saddle again. It’s back-to-school time. You know what that means. So long, August. Can’t say we’re sorry to see you go. Although it’s been memorable. Hotter than a $2 pistol is what it’s been. 1925 holds the record. And they can have it. Bring on Autumn. Let the leaves begin. Begin to turn and fall. And cool down these 100-degree days. Ah, Nature.
