Last Wednesday’s Storm:
What an amazing city we live in. It was incredible to see how the community responded to their neighbor’s needs and assisted them in recovering from the storm damage to their property as a result of last Wednesday’s storm. During the storm I was with 3 of my Christian friends when Lesa received a call from her daughter Arett Gentry that the roof had blown off her’s and Dave’s business, including the Hoffman Insurance side of the building.
The tax revenue that would be generated by changing Mason County from a “dry county” to a “wet county” is substantial. That’s why there is a petition circulating to make Mason County a “wet county” with legalized alcohol sales. Much of the economic development happening all across the Texas Hill Country is directly related to tourism and food and wine culture, and alcohol sales are a big part of that.
Studies show that counties that go from “dry” to “wet” not only incr ...

Things We've Learned After Covid-19
The past couple of weeks, as the world opens up again after two months of pandemic lockdown, I've been seeing lots of new things in our world. We spend so much time lamenting the things we no longer have close at hand due to Covid; but, that often clouds our view of the new things happening right in front of us.
We have learned to appreciate service people more than in the past.
Mowing
Thanks to the ROW crews who are cutting the right of ways in Mason County. It is so nice to travel down the hightway and see something besides weeds!

Health Care
Open Letter to Sens. Cornyn and Cruz, and Rep. Mike Conaway:
I have written to you a number of times about my son who works in an ER in Austin. I have written about the lack of PPE. I have written about the lack of testing. I have written about how his hours and shifts have been cut to the point he will lose his apartment in a couple of months if things don’t change.
He works hard.

2 ½ teaspoons yeast
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ½ cups water
Oil, as needed but not included in the mixture
Process:
Combine flour, yeast and salt in a large mixing ...

Look Both Directions…
It’s a parental directive virtually all of us have lodged in our minds dating back to childhood days when our memories started to take root.
“Look both directions,” they implored, emphasizing dangers posed by passing cars.
Often, they’d throw additional dangers at intersections, thus providing more dreadful statistics that made us even more fearful of road-crossing.
