Lately it seems that most of Texas would like to get back to “business as usual” even with the concerns that there are more cases of Covid-19 being reported throughout the State. In Mason we have not seen any new cases for about three weeks, but it is still a good idea to continue wearing face masks and keeping a reasonable distance from others as you go about shopping, church services, getting the mail and many other situations.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. Since I received no reply to my question, “What do you want to do for Father’s Day?”, we will proceed as normal.
Summer is officially here June 20. Maybe I should ask what he wants to do to celebrate summer.
There will be no class meeting this week.

Everything You Can, In Every Way You Can...
Last Sunday, for the first time in two months, First United Methodist Church reopened its sanctuary for worship on Sunday morning. Every other row of pews was taped off. Masks, though optional, were widely worn. There was no handshaking or hugging, though there was a lot of elbow bumping and delighted grins.
Dry County
Coach Paul Smith
I am surprised to see your petition on Masking Mason County a wet county. When we moved here thirty years ago, Mason was, indeed, a dry county. Today we have drinks sold on three sides of the square and in our grocery store. We also have an alcohol problem among our teenagers who are getting their drinks and examples from the home or illegally.
Training
Dear Readers,
I ran across these stats and, if these are representative or even close, I think we can see why police in some places find it difficult to do a better job. TRAINING!
N. Carolina
Police: 620 hrs.
Barber: 1,528 hrs.
Two cities require 278 more hrs. of police training.
California
Police: 664 hrs.
Cosmetologist: 1,600 hrs.
The Father in the Mirror
My dad has been dead since 1979. But I saw him this morning!
Head tilted forward emphasizing the dewlap under his chin, looking down at me over that slightly elongated nose with those distinctive Birk brown eyes -- it was him all right. No question about it.

A Quiet Week in Lake Wobegon?...
It is ironic that author/broadcasting legend Garrison Keillor’s mythical hometown of Lake Wobegon is only an hour’s “crow fly” journey from Minneapolis.
I saunter in where angels fear to tread--this needless mixing make believe with reality in the same paint can--but serious news folks do so all the time, so why not?
Once asked about Lake Wobegon’s exact “location,” Keillor maintained the place of his upbringing to be in “Stearns County, ...
Frozen Wedding Punch
This being June and the month of Matrimony, it brings back memories of weddings and showers. This was before cucumber water, bird seeds and bubbles. We drank sugary punch and threw rice at the newlyweds.
It seemed like when I was a child we were going to a wedding or a shower all summer long.
