The Mason County Commissioners' Court has lifted the burn ban for Mason County.
However, County Judge Jerry Bearden reminds residents that a tremendous amount of fuel remains in area pastures, and extreme caution should be taken when conducting any type of burn.
Residents are also requested to call the County prior to burning any brushpiles or fields so that the dispatcher is aware of the location of any active burns occurring in the county.
Hill Country Astronomers (HCA) will meet at 6:30 PM, Monday, March 5, in the HEB activity room at Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg.
HCA members Ryan Behrends, Donnie Bunch and Dan Posey will present a program about the Astronomical League (AL) and how the AL observing lists can enhance one’s observing experience.
Among the three speakers, they have completed 16 AL observing lists and are working on five others.

Walk Across Texas participants will gather at the band practice field on Sunday, March 4th at 4pm to kick off the community-wide walking campaign. On location will be buckets and buckets of colored powder which will be tossed at participants as they pass by designated areas of the walking trail.

The annual Steady Steps Fundraiser of the Mason First United Methodist church will be held at the Community Center on April 21, 2018, starting at 5:00 p.m. for viewing of silent auction items with dinner to be served at 6:00 p.m.
Following the dinner a fabulous cake and pie auction will be conducted.
