We will start picking up leaves on December the 12th. Please try not to put any limbs in the piles of leaves so our vacuum can pick up all leaves. Please put all leaves on side of street. If you miss us for any reason be assured that we will be back by the following week.
The regular meeting of the Mason Garden Club will be on Tuesday,December 13, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mason County M. Beven EckertMemorial Library, Stribling Room. Please note the date and time change. This will be the club’s annual Christmas party. Members are asked to bringtheir favorite pot luck dish and a white elephant gift that can either be garden related or not.

For new participants, it works like this: A donation is made to the “Greeting” fund and your name is listed on a full page Greeting Card that appears in this paper’s Christmas edition on December 21st.

High school students in the Central Texas Electric Cooperative service area can now submit an essay to be one of three winners for the 2017 Government-in-Action Youth Tour, an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 7–16. Essays must be turned in by January 27 for this opportunity that truly is the trip of a lifetime.
Central Texas Electric Cooperative (CTEC) is collecting toys again this holiday season. A free koozie will be given to individuals that bring in donation items. CTEC is working with Bluebonnet CASA for this toy drive. The ages served range from one month to 18 years of age. Some of the items they are looking for are books, infant toys, baby dolls, Legos, board games, footballs and soccer balls. CTEC will be collecting until December 11th.

Fresh off the boat in January of last year, I had a new acquaintance but committed church member of First Baptist Church of Mason, ask me as her new pastor, if I thought we could use our church to start an afterschool program for children. Angie Dudney knew I was brand new to Mason and was just getting acquainted to the area.
This evening (Wednesday, December 7) at 6 PM the JH Jazz band, JH Band, and HS Band will perform a Christmas Concert at the HS auditorium.
