   The Heart of Texas Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) has joined hands once again with the McCulloch County Museum Board, the Sons of the Republic of Texas (SRT) and the Heart of Texas Writer’s Group to bring their annual HISTORIANS AND STORYTELLERS to Brady.
   The Mason County Historical Society will hold its annual business and membership meeting on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 7 p.m. at the River of Life Church, 217 East College St.    The featured speaker will be Jeff Salmon, executive director of Frontier Texas in Abilene. Beven Eckert Memorial Library tomorrow, September 8th, to create a one-of-a-kind community painting representing the culture and heritage of Mason.    This collaborative project requires no artistic ability or prior experience to participate.    On October 8th, 2016, Wine in the Hill Country Honoring Mark Witt will take place at Pontotoc Weingarten in Fredericksburg, Texas. The event will be from 3 to 5 p.m., and will include live music, food and a silent auction. 20 percent of wine sales from that day, along with all proceeds from the silent auction, will go towards the Cure PSP Foundation.    Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a degenerative brain disease.
   KERRVILLE, TX - Andrew LaBay will be the Texas Master Naturalist Hill Country Chapter’s speaker at the Monday, September 26th monthly meeting. Andrew is a Program Specialist based at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Viticulture and Fruit Lab in Fredericksburg, Texas. His work is focused on developing educational programs and providing technical support for grape growers in the Texas Hill Country.
   Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” like most of us, have our “little routines,” familiar habits that give order to our days, and, sometimes, insanity to our significant others (sorry, Tommy).    We have been putting our pantyhose on left leg first for 50 years and we see no reason to change it up.

   The Puncher Club is hosting complimentary weekly Varsity game film screenings every Tuesday at 6:30 PM during the football season at the Odeon. Screenings are approximately 45 minutes in length and provide a fantastic opportunity to relive spectacular plays or perhaps catch a game that you were not able to attend!
   The annual meeting of the Central Texas Private Property Rights Coalition will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds Biergarten.    Registration, for the collection of annual dues, and social, will begin at 6:00 PM. A catered meal will be served at 6:30 PM, followed by a business meeting.
