Old Yeller Day, held this year on September 24th, is a long-time Mason County tradition that celebrates all things Mason from the time period that Old Yeller was written by Fred Gipson. Since most of his books had to do with dogs, it follows that an important part of Old Yeller Day is the Pet Parade and contests.

September the 2nd is the day we celebrate the victory over Japan in World War II. The VFW veterans will honor those that fell during this conflict by passing out poppies at Lowes market in Mason on Saturday the 3rd of September.

On Sunday, August 7, the members of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Mason joyfully welcomed Pastor Alfred Krebs as their newly called minister. Pastor “Fred” (as he likes to be called) comes to St. Paul from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Austin, where he served for almost 20 years.
The Board of Directors of Operation Orphans, Inc. has selected four dates for doe hunts during the forthcoming whitetail season. They are the following Saturdays: October 29, November 19, December 3 and January 7. The October date will be an all girls’ hunt, while the remaining dates will be all boys’ hunts.
