   The Old Yeller Days celebration will be held Saturday, September 24th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the Mason County Courthouse lawn.    This annual event, sponsored by the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, will bring to life the frontier times of Mason County and its literary heritage Mason author Fred Gipson.

   Old Yeller Day will be on Saturday, September 24th this year and will run from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Local vendors may pick up their applications at the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library located at 410 Post Hill St. or at the Mason Chamber of Commerce.
   The Hilda Community Club will hold its annual Ice Cream Social this coming Friday, August 19th at 6:30 p.m. and the everyone is invited.    Members, please bring a gallon of your favorite ice cream (home-made or store-bought) to share. Hosts Carol Kothmann and Jan Appleby will provide toppings for the ice cream and drinks.
   Everyone is invited to attend the Fundraiser!    Howard College San Angelo is offering Distance Learning GED in Mason. There will be occasional face-to-face classes held at the Mason Co. M.    The “Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER)” was revised and updated and will be effective October 11, 2015. A major change in the revision now requires all food employees to complete an accredited food handlers training program within 60 days of employment, effective September 16, 2016.    A food handler’s course accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services is being offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Mason County.
   The third annual Masonic Lodge scholarship roping was held last Saturday, August 6. The roping turned out to be a great success. Ropers from all around showed up to compete and to aid the McCulloch lodge #273 in their scholarship fundraising efforts. The roping consisted of both a 5 cap and an 11 slide.
   The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library will be offering a free Microsoft Excel class in September. Carol Tucker will be teaching primarily Excel 2010, but she will also highlight the differences in Excel 2016 and explain Microsoft 365. The class meets on eight consecutive Tuesdays; the first four sessions cover the basics, and the next four more advanced applications.
