According to a city ordinance that has been in effect since 1950, firing or exploding fireworks within the City is prohibited; however, this is enforced for the most part only when a complaint is received. Complaints can be called into Mason Sheriff's office dispatch at 325-347-5252.

Runners from across the state will head to Mason, Texas on Saturday, September 24, 2016, for the 10th Annual Gem of the Hill Country 5K & 10K Run/Walk. The race will start at 8:00 a.m. in front of the M. Bevin Eckert Library just south of the town Courthouse and Square.
The 5K & 10K courses meander through the charming and historic neighborhoods of Mason, featuring hills, valleys, and some of the most scenic views in the Texas Hill Country.

The Seaquist House, 405 Broad St., will be offering tours the first two Saturdays in July – the 2nd (4th of July weekend) and the 9th (Roundup) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
So far we have excellent attendance at the tours which began in March and folks are coming from all over the place!
I want to extend my warmest appreciation to those who have assisted me with two very large projects over the last six months. The first project involved a health fair at our local food pantry to provide an opportunity for the participants to learn of services available to them at no cost or low cost.
This year has been a fulfilling year for the Mason Senior Center Nutrition Program. We are currently operating at maximum service for the senior members of our community. Every Monday through Friday several members of our senior community receive a nutritious warm meal that satisfies a willing soul. In order to maintain the service we provide and assist the community we serve, we must ask for your patronage and support for our nutrition program.

KERRVILLE, TX - “Dr. Robert Puckett will be the Texas Master Naturalist Hill Country Chapter’s speaker at the June 27 monthly meeting.” Dr. Puckett is Assistant Professor and Extension Entomologist at Texas A&M University and his research is primarily involved in the investigation of the biology, behavior, and management of invasive social insect species including red imported fire ants, tawny crazy ants, and Formosan subterranean termites.
Race fans eager to stand trackside for live pari-mutuel horse racing will find it at Fredericksburg Downs on July 2 and 3 when the Gillespie County Fair & Festivals Association hosts its first race meet of the summer.
The racing schedule at the Class 3 track calls for a full slate of quarter horse and thoroughbred racing as well as special races, trials, and futurities.
Heart of Texas Records is pleased to announce a special Curtis Potter Tribute/Benefit show and dance at the Heart of Texas Events Center in Brady. The event will be held on Sunday, July 10, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Admission is a $20 donation and there will be a silent auction as well.
