4th of July For our Post's 4th of July celebration we will have a float in the Round Up parade. All veterans are invited to ride the float. The next post meeting will be held on July 19th at 6:30 p.m., at Post on Post Hill Street. All questions about Mason VFW may be directed to Lawrence Spell, post commander, at 325 429 6224.
We would like to invite all veterans to join our Faces of Freedom float for the Round Up Parade on Saturday, July 9th. Please meet in front of the pharmacy between 9:30-9:45a.m. All of our WWII veterans will be honored as the parade’s Grand Marshal this year. Immediately following the parade the WWII veterans will be dropped off at the new Grunts Frozen Yogurt shop on the square by the Chamber of Commerce for a free ice cream.
Night in Old Fredericksburg will present the new Sommerzeit Festival on Saturday, July 16, in conjunction with the Gillespie County Pari-Mutuel Horse Races held that Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17. Sommerzeit is German for “Summer Time.” According to the host Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, this event celebrates the cultures of the Hill Country, and features a Mexican Mercado, Cowboy Grill, and Night in Old Fredericksburg Biergarten.

The Mason County Chamber of Commerce cordially invites you to join us for our 52nd Annual Round-up Celebration! Kick off for this weekend long celebration will begin Thursday, July 7th with the Mason County Team Roping Event sponsored by Karen and Dennis Townsend. For more information, please call Dennis Townsend at 325-456-8635. On Friday July 8th, the Mason Rodeo Association will host a 4-D barrel race beginning at 8:00 p.m.
Mark Hierholzer, local pianist, composer and choral director will be giving a concert of his own works on Friday, July 15 at 7:30 PM at St. Joseph’s Halle, 212 W. San Antonio Street in Fredericksburg. The concert will consist of five Toccatas for piano. These works were written during the period between October 2015 and May 2016.
The annual Moldenhauer Family Reunion will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016. It is being hosted by the Willie Moldenhauer family, and the children of Lee Moldenhauer. Reigstration and social begin at 3:00 with the meal at 6:00. There will be horseshoe pitching, children's activities, bingo, musical entertainment, raffle prizes, discussion of family history and visiting. The Llano Country Opry will be staged on Saturday, July 9, at the Lantex Theater in downtown Llano, Texas. There will be two shows with the matinee to begin at 2:30 PM and the evening show to start at 7:30 PM. The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library is hosting a special book signing event for Judy Schoenfeld, author of Mason Country Schools: Drawings, Photos, Histories, and Stories. Judy will be at the library on Tuesday, July 19th from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Books may also be purchased in the Archives section of the library when open or during Round Up on July 9th in a booth on the courthouse lawn.
The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Library is currently showing the unique, exciting artwork of Don Coan. The display will remain in the foyer cabinets for the month of July. Coan makes all kinds of fixtures—from furniture to candle holders—with wood that he finds on his ranch Coan has previously had showings in Stephenville and Kerrville among others, and he founded the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council in Stephenville.
