The Punchers baseball team took the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over Comfort last Saturday. The game was tied at one at the end of regulation.
A five-run lead in the ninth inning was just enough for the Punchers to hold off Comfort for the victory. Comfort scored three runs in the failed comeback.
Mason Punchers Varsity collected 13 hits.

Ramona Gibbs Nicholson went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the age of 77. She was born November 2, 1939, in Fredonia, TX and raised by her grandparents Verna Lee and Dave E Gibbs.
In 1958 Ramona graduated from Mason High School and married her true partner in life, Rocky Free Nicholson on May 30.

Nina Beatrice “Beady” Beam, a longtime resident of Killeen, TX, was born in Rosedale, Mississippi on January 6th, 1931. She departed this life for her heavenly home on February 20th, 2017.
Beady was born the 7th child of nine to Conyers Wilson Sosebee and Clatie Belzora Lum. During her teen years, Beady excelled in basketball and enjoyed playing the guitar.
The tennis team has been hitting the courts hard the last three weeks. In preparation for team tennis that starts this weekend, the team has hosted three tournaments in Mason and traveled to Fredericksburg for two more.
Mason hosted the Puncher Shootout on February 10-11. Teams that participated were Abilene Wylie (4A State Champions), Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Liberty Hill, Magnolia, Midland, and Odessa Permian.
Docents for the Mason County Museum located on the second floor of the Historical Building met Thursday for an informational business meeting and luncheon. Led by museum president, Nancy Jordan, docents were given a list of contact numbers, some refresher “do’s” and & “don’ts” plus a complimentary cookbook from the Cherokee Rose Antique Shop.
The Museum will open for the 2017 season on Thursday, March 2nd, and end on Saturday November 18th.
The annual Book and Bake Sale is the primary fundraiser for the Friends of the Library. We need your book donations as soon as possible. Book donations can be dropped off at the library. If you have books to donate, please pack them in cardboard boxes. Use separate boxes for fiction and nonfiction, if possible.
