Mason County AgriLife Extension and the Natural Resource Conservation Service held a Fall Range Supper on October 23. About 50 Mason County ranchers attended the meal and seminar series held at the Eckert Civic Center in Mason.
Topics included a presentation on Rain Water Capturing by NRCS, Using Livestock to Manage Wildlife by AgriLife Extension and Updates from the Farm Service Agency.
The Ellebracht Chapel was rededicated at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas, in memory of Eleanor Kirns Ellebracht, a 1958 graduate of the then, Arkansas College. The rededication was made possible by a figt of $250,000 from the family of Pat Ellebracht.
Subsequently, Eleanor graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers (now part of Vanderbilt University) with a degree in Library Science in 1960.
Thirty Five members of the Mason FFA Chapter competed in the Bluebonnet District Leadership Development Events held at Marble Falls High School on November 6. The top two teams from each contest advance to the Area VII LDE Contest in Blanco on Wednesday, November 14. Congratulations to all those competing and good luck at area.
Mason County had a very good voter turnout for the general election, with 1,967 of the 2,956 registered voters casting ballots (a 66.54% turnout). For the most part, voters in the county followed the statewide trends. Results listed by Republican, Democrat, Libertarian.

Funds will be used to build outdoor play and garden area
MASON, Texas – M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library will be able to build an outdoor play and garden area thanks to a $16,390 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and the City of Mason.
The new Discovery Garden will include a covered pavilion, benches, walking paths, fencing and an entryway with signage.
The Mason County/District Clerk has reported that, of Mason's 2961 registered voters, 1459 had already availed themselves of the opportunity for early voting (either in person, or by mail), as of the closed of early voting on Friday. There were still 4 vote by mail ballots outstanding, so that total may change slightly when all ballots are tabulated.
