Ordinance Dear Editor: We are members of the Mason County Historical Commission, which has proposed that the City of Mason adopt a limited historic preservation ordinance solely to prevent the demolition of certain historic structures without prior review. In last week’s Mason County News, Don Durflinger said that this proposed ordinance is “not fair” and observed, “From an investment point, I doubt there is a chance that the present [historic] structures would be demolished.” ...
The Mis-Adventures of Tom and Ron I had made a mistake - a big mistake! I realized the error of my ways before I had driven a tenth of a mile. That's when the calm, purring cat curled up in my lap, uncurled, and with a never before heard growl, leapt to the floorboard of 'the pickup.
Baguettes, the P.B. Way The Practical Baker really enjoys experimenting in the kitchen. From taking tried and true recipes and altering them in different ways, to sometimes striking out and attempting to build something from scratch, I get a lot of pleasure in seeing how many different ways I can make a baked good!

Thank you Lord for the rain. I hear from everyone in the community that they had the rain that we needed so desperately. Some gauges had more than others, but we are all thankful for what we received. The Men’s Choir of the Art United Methodist Church will practice January 28 at 6.
A Community Trying to Breathe!!! The first few weeks of 2020 have been an interesting time in Mason County. We've had promises of rain that, once again, did not materialize. We've had bipolar weather all around, with one day being 75, the next 29. In the hills around the county and in surrounding counties, cedar trees have been releasing pollen like great voluminous clouds, drifting on the wind and finding its way into every nostril and bronchial. As if that didn't already create enough w ...
